People still love their Wii's?

I have to say I rarely ever play my Wii at all any more.
At the start I think I knew deep down that I hated it but tried to convince myself otherwise.
I think the Wii Sports sucks, Wii Play sucks, and Zelda seriously sucks.
I played about 20 hours of Zelda telling myself that I'd get into it but it never happened.

I can see the Wii just gathering dust for the rest of its life now unless I hear of a gret game that I'd like to try.
    Anyone else feel the same?

Well i dont have broadband so im missing out on a lot of the wii features, still love the console
as for wii sports its not for everyone granted
but zelda is gaming genius if you think it seriously sucks you'd probably be better off with a barbie doll
I also got call of duty 3 and really like it though we seem to be in a bit of a dull spot for game releases on the wii at the moment but as we go into march there are more and more releases so that situation will change
    give it time

I love my Wii. I think it is the best system ive ever owned. Granted theres only like 6 games I like(and I have 5 of them :) ) But still its great. And we havent even got the best games yet(Mario). Sonic is coming out very soon which Ill buy and that should be very good.

I like it but haven't played it in a good while... Spend most of my time on the 360, only ever played the wii with the GF but she's doing a show at the mo n aint ever around... I'm all alone, there's no one here beside me.........

I turn on my Wii almost every day.
Love wii sports, have regular tennis rallys at weekend with mates, Pro in all.
    Cleared red steel.
    Wii play is gatherin dust.
    Tony hawks is pretty good
Warioware is utter childish sh1te IMO, def gona trade it in.
Recently got Excite Truck and think its brilliant!
Lookin forward to Tiger woods and maybe Wing Island.
IMO anyone without a wii online is seriously missing out on some of the wiis strongest points.
    Lovin it!!!!:D

The virtual console is keeping my wii going between releases.

Wow, I'm really surprised you feel that way, especially since you have Zelda! I could understand someone being bored with the Wii if all they had was, say, Wii Sports or Red Steel, but Zelda, for me anyway, has been wonderful. I've been enjoying the gameplay so much that I'm dragging the game out for ages and ages, afraid to finish it. At this point, though, I've got twenty hearts, the magical armour, the giant quiver, the giant wallet, found all the golden bugs etc. so the end is near ::sigh::

But it's not all about Zelda. There are some (hopefully) great games coming soon, I think. I wouldn't give up on the console yet, if I were you. Although if you do decide to sell, I'm sure you won't have difficulty finding a customer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭djkeogh

I'm loving it. Zelda is the business and I'm like yourself Luluk just trying to drag it out before finishing it. 4 more heart pieces before I fight the end boss. Wii Play does not get much of a look in but If i've a mate around I'll stick it in for at least half an hour. Sports is still getting hours of play as well.

I completely missed the Gamecube when it was released so recently got Resident Evil 4 and I am absolutely addicted to it. A number of Gamecube games in the post from E-bay as well so I'm not having any problems. Still have a number of VC games I've downloaded that I have to get around to as well as finishing the mighty Red Steel. I find I just don't have enough time to spend on the Wii. My best purchase in a long time.

If you think Zelda "seriously sucks" then you have no soul.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,762 ✭✭✭smokingman

Mine is used every day and is permanantly connected to the net.

It's true that there's a dearth of good games in the shops but what's kept me busy is Mii creation/Virtual console (got R-type 3 at the weekend and absolutely love it!)/You-tube on my TV/Wii Sports (it keeps fresh if you use famous Miis - trust Mii :) )

Zelda sucks eh? My god what planet are you from?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 121 ✭✭Pablo-El-Vagabu

I play mine all the time, busy life so usually a few hours week.

    Games I have are:

Red Steel - excellent , esp the later levels
Monkey Balls - havent really gotten into it
Zelda - played about 7/9 hours but will need a day to sit down to get into it. not blowing me away, but i never liked zeldas gameplay/story. Still a great game though.

    New purchase is:

Excite Truck- have played 4 hours or so and it is a fab game 8.5/10 from me (it would have gotten 9.5 if there were more multiplayer options and a few more countries or vehicles (not trucks :)).

I do not play wii sports much. I have about 7 VC games. I agree with a previous poster, best console I have ever owned/played bar none.

    that is ........bias

personally, i like the game, but it aint great

my wii is only really played daily for the wii sporst fitness test, and maybe some training
    bout 30 minutes at most

no bb yet means i cant download virtual games
and no money means i cant buy more games...........

my ps2[which i bought with christmas money] is getting alot more gameplay........got some great games for nothing..........resident evil:code name veronica x[good, not great game] for 6 euro , enter the matrix[fantasic game] for 5 euro, final fantasy x for 6 euro, medal of honour:rising sun for 10 euro and last years pro evo for 10 euro[great game]

want to play some gamecube games, but i cant find a memory card/controller for resonable price[even on ebay]

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭1huge1

well ebay would be one of your only choices for a memory card/controller so keep looking and you'll probably get one at a good price after a while

So zelda isn't great but the steaming pile of crap that is enter the matrix, probably the worst game I had the misfortune to play in the last 7 years, is a 'fantastic game'. Some people

You have to remember that the PS2 is 6 years old now so of course it has loads of excellent games. If you remember around the launch of the PS2 there wasn't 1 decent game on the system for almost 10 months. The Wii isn't 3 months old yet it has far more good games than the PS2 had in those 10 months. If it wasn't for GT3 and GTA3 we could still be playing Dreamcasts :)

easy now, wars have been started over less.

Since i cleared Zelda, i have nothing else really to play, but thankfully it's given me an excuse to play the gamecube games i picked up at a pittance but never got around to playing.

There is a drought at the moment, and nothing untill mario that really piques my interest, but the backwards compatability and the VC would probably keep me entertained for the next god knows how long.
Especially the VC.. once i'm out of debt, i'm gonna go and leap straight back in again.

    Not it's not, it's fact :p
    enter the matrix[fantasic game]

Now I know you're a troll, no one likes Enter The Matrix, not even the people that made it I bet. It's awful.

My missus bought one at Christmas time and she's played it for about an hour since. What a waste

Btw, i thought this thread was "People still love their Willy's"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,807 ✭✭✭chump

i've just sold zelda after 10hours play roughly.

Just didn't have the time or patience :D , mainly time.

I like a game that I can pick up and play 30mins-1hour of and then be completely satisfied.

That's just me, there was times when I'd want to be absorbed in a plot/game and immerse myself in it. not any more tho

Still loving Zelda, I use the 'net access regularly 'cause it's faster and more convenient than going upstairs to fire up the PC, voting is surprisingly fun and competitive despite sounding crap on paper. The only sour note for me is the complete lack of other games to buy that I'm interested in. And the knowledge that they have LoZ : Link to the Past on VC in the US, bastards.

am i really alone in loving this game?

on wii............the new Pokemon game looks half-decent, as well as Manhunter2, and Medal of honour:vanguard , but nothing out anything time soon [well maybe sonic if ive money to burn] that takes my fancy

Most people love Zelda, some people don't. I thought it was a good game but had it so hyped up in my head that it was ultimately a big let down. It can actually be very annoying at times and never at one stage had me hooked (I think the story is damn awful). I never felt that it touched on greatness at any stage. The Wind Waker was far better.

I think the new Sonic game looks good alright (got a decent review on 1up.com). Also keep an eye out for that Heroes game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭sprinkles

I have a problem that I have to keep pluggin it out so I can play GOW on my xbox however I always plug the wii back in as soon as I'm finished so I have no excuse not to play Zelda...

If it wasn't for zelda at the minute though it wouldn't be getting much use. There's a serious lack of games!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 978 ✭✭✭AceCard Jones

Serious drought period for games right now.
I am now completely sick of Sports and Play, as the novelty has completely warn off.

Zelda on the other hand, had me glued to it from start to finish, which was an unfortunate curse it would seem, as since I have finished it 100% I haven't really touched my Wii, other than to download updates and channels etc.

I am slightly disappointed in it right now, but I am smart enough to know this won't last long, and great games will be released shortly.
Mario Galaxy, Sonic, and Super Smash Bros to be exact.

Once those games are released there will be no stopping me.
I have the PS3 launch coming up now so the Wii will be left dormant for just a little longer, but after a while I will play both the PS3 and the Wii a lot, like I did my PS2 and GameCube before that.

I don't think people should make rash decisions about getting rid of their Wii just yet.I have already seen at least three people sell theirs on Adverts.
That was a big mistake by them IMO.

Patience is a virtue in this case.

Unfortunately my Wii has suffered as a result of my 360 being AWOL in the Xbox "repair" centre for two months. Tore into Zelda, cleared it, and then the 'Box came back. I had GOW, Splinter Cell: DA and Rainbow Six: Vegas all untouched and dieing for a spin, and on my Wii I had Play (friends: essential, booze: recommended) and Sports (as above), so I had no single player experience whatsoever on my Wii. And with FFXII coming out on Friday, I doubt I'll fire up my Wii again for singleplayer fun until Manhunt 2.

Dont know what you are bleating about.
So far about 22 hours into Zelda.
    Completed Ice age two.
    Kids love play and sports.
    Monky ball was crap.
    Rayman gets the odd play.

Mario 64 and sonic VC love but cannot find the time to play because we got starfox from the gamecube and thats a great game.
Also got mario sunshine, had a quick look and looks good but not had the time yet and the quidich game but not even had time to look at that, but the kids like harry potter.
Kids love the miis and I use the news and weather as its quicker then fireing up the laptop.

All in all well woth the hassle and money spent.

Oh and you can get cheep gamecube memory cards and controllers on ebay, you just have to look. Got mine for £4 for the controller and 60p for the memory card. The postage cost more.

I think there will be enough to keep me from looking at the PS3 for a few months yet.

Yep. Not worth the bother unless you play regularly with a bunch of pίssheads and even then wii sports and wario will get far more play time.

And yes, you are alone in loving enter matrix.

Here's an SD memory card for around 10 euro delivered to your door.
Two Wireless GameCube controllers for 19 euro, delivered to your door.

Can't get much more reasonable than that!

Loved Zelda best one yet. Love the Wii I keep trading the games to keep myself interested. I still have a load of VC games I havent beatten since I downloaded them. March will be a Sh** Hot month for games

    <3 Wii.

I'm still enjoying just about everything I bought for it so far. If it wasn't for Okami (which, in all fairness, is wonderful and deserves the attention), I'd be spending most of my free time with the Wii. Not to mention the wonderful virtual console (I really missed Golden Axe. I mean REALLY.), or the fun distractions like the weather and news channels.

I don't think it's going to get old any time soon.

This is true, gamecube memory cards for gamecube games. I just checked it there to make sure i wasn't talking out of my ass. You may have to resort to online purchases, adverts.ie or a lot of luck in shops to pick up a Gamecube memory card.

i still love Mii Wii but i don't play it as much as the Xbox 360 , for me it's something to play every now and then for a change and i tend to play it more with the kids and the boss than on my own .

wii sports get's played the most and then the other games get a run now and then but i still have not put in a good gaming session into the Wii yet on any game other than wii sports , that is something i'll have to change so i'll add it to the list .

Bought it, enjoyed the first night with a few drinks with my mates playin Wii sports
Then i just left it there the rest of the Weekend, picked it up for 30 mins, wasnt impressed.

Its just a novelty item tbh

Bought it on a Friday, sold on the monday,
    Total time 4 days

    Most boring console ever

Ill wait a year till PS3 has come out along with some decent games

Yeesh you really didnt give it a a chance really. 1 year from now the games list will be much better etc. Sold it on 4 days later, waste of money by you mate.

Only giving it 4 days in total, and 30 mins alone time!!! Was wii sports the only game you tried?? I gave the PSP longer than that :)

I am bored of it, but the reason why is that the games being realesed are just... crap really. Red Steel, i got bored of. Excite Truck I got bored of since it was short, then going into super excite I cba to try everything else. Wii play, ewww. Cod3 ive nearly completed, it was good. Zelda owns. Wii sports is very good. And thats it. So I have 1 game really to keep me occupied. All im waiting for is SSBB,MP3 Corruption and Super Matio Galaxy. Hopefully smash bros will have wifi :(
