playing 1/2 pl in the jackpot last night,in for 200 and up to 1200 now at 9 in the morning so most of the usaul drunks have either passed out or gone broke and there is only 2 tables left with decent players at them.its 6 handed and an easy enough game

everyone limps and im on the button and i make it 5 just to build the pot with K7 hearts.not to sure what happens next but it got minraised and it got minraised again as one guy was all-in for 20.4 callers

    flop comes

    Jh 4h 7d

first to act is the only one is anywhere near me in chip stack sizes and we have just about exactly the same and we have avoided each other so far. he bets out 50 into a 100 pot.

iv flush draw plus pair so i raise it to 175 and he thinks for a while and calls(pot is 450)

    turn is

    3h

he thinks for a while again and bets out 200.

    my action?

do i raise here and how much or do i just call and slow down as it is the other big stack at the table?

I was trying to explain this to you earlier, I felt you should just call his bet of 200 on the turn.
You're going against the one player who can cripple you.
    Reasons for calling:
    1. Player doesn't have a reputation for making big bluffs
    2. He's smooth called your raise and then bet when the heart comes on 4th street out of position. This indicates he has a very strong holding or is attempting to pull a big bluff on you.
3.You've got to try and put him on a hand here.. set of J's,3's 7's ?? , smaller flush or bigger flush?. you have a good hand but it's far from concrete.
    4. I smooth call here too because if you raise you are only getting called or reraised by the nuts although unlikely it's a strong possibility, and what then ? Can you let go if he goes over the top again and puts you all in.
    5. I'd want to see the river and evaluate from his action here before putting all my chips in with those kind of stacks.

I felt sorry for you watching this hand but didn't like your raise on the turn at all, you even said out loud he could have the aof hearts.

It was still a good weekend for you. good luck in London

I don't like the preflop/flop play. I'd call the turn.
Whats the problem that this guy has you covered?
    surely that's a good thing.....?

    iv realised this now myself
    Reasons for calling:
    1. Player doesn't have a reputation for making big bluffs

when i raised i was happy to take it down there and then as i felt that he was trying to control the pot and maybe keep it smaller than he would like as he was thinking if he checks im going to bet 350/400 and he will have a hard time calling

as i said before i thought he was trying just to control it and keep it as cheap as possible
3.You've got to try and put him on a hand here.. set of J's,3's 7's ?? , smaller flush or bigger flush?. you have a good hand but it's far from concrete.

for him to call the reraise on flop the i was thinking that he had to of had one of 5 hands 44,56h,77,nut flush draw,AJ in that order of most likely hood. the first time i played against him i lost a 750 pot when he played it blind until the turn and called for 300 with Q8 for a draw and spiked a q to beat my 9's so although he was a solid player he does have gamble in him[/quote]
    4. I smooth call here too because if you raise you are only getting called or reraised by the nuts although unlikely it's a strong possibility, and what then ? Can you let go if he goes over the top again and puts you all in.

i know this i ssomething i have said to loads of people in the past when they lost big pots however i think i just got a rush of blood to the head and wasnt able to follow my own advice. however do you think that there is a possibility that he will come over the top with a set or a weaker flush if he thinks i am trying to buy the pot as it had appeared that i did that a lot through out the night?
    5. I'd want to see the river and evaluate from his action here before putting all my chips in with those kind of stacks.

i know this and really sould of just called. if i am beat i will save money in the long run and if im ahead he may bluff at the pot which will make me than just taking it down there and then

i think it was obivious from my reaction that i thought he had the ace however i felt that there was a slight possibility that i was ahead and that i had to call for my last 400 in the off chance that he has a weaker flush as there was 2k in the pot at the time and i was getting good odds.

With the 2.5k from friday it was good overall so i shouldnt be too annoyed but then again i get pissed with myself when i play badly and lose a fiver and with all the time to think about it today in the airport i think i must have worked out nearly every single possibility that it could of been played and there corresponding results.

ah well there's always next time and im back in a 2 weeks so ill have a crack at getting some of it back from him
