Not sure if this is of much use to anyone but...
Only found this out by chance today as My sister in the uk was telling me about a triple pack of cordless phones she had reserved in argos(england), they were panasonic KXTE7123ES, which had been reduced from £109.95 to £49.97.

Page 476 No.3 in irish catalogue
They have not been reduced here(still E159.95) but they are £49.97 in the Northern stores.

    they're rubbish.

Crap low volume and appalling battery quality.

I have a "platinum" set from B&Q in a box in the warehouse - just waiting for the next time a skip is outside.

Siemens systems are very good imho.

can any of these triple packs work wirelessly (made up word) i.e. only the base station needs to be connected to a phoneline?

I have heard that the Panasonic cordless phones are usually awful.

Although the BT ones I got recently seem to run out of juice way before the quoted 100 hours of standby time. So I couldn't recommend those either.

Error - The set I have is "plantinum" - some unbranded crap from B&Q. - They stopped working after a few weeks - battery leaked. (what did I expect for €39!!!!)

    So Panasonic error corrected!

Woodies have the panasonic 3 pack for €79.99 - They look quite decent. DID have twin sets for about €50 - €60.

As for the wireless part - you only need the base unit plugged into a phone socket and the other 2 can be located anywhere else but within 50 metres.

Don't know about that. In Japan, a very fickle market indeed, 'National' as Panasonic is known, is a premium top of the range brand, coveted and priced above the likes of Sony. They also manufacture Technics and the like... but enough of that... back to phones.

I have the KX-TG7123ES set from Argos, cost me about E109 at Christmas. Cordless, only the main base phone & answer machine needs a connection. The others all link back to it. Check messages from any phone, room to room intercom, good battery life...

Couldn't disagree more with earlier post to be honest. Bring them back if they are that bad.

Overall, if they come in as cheap here as the UK price quoted above suggests then well worth it.

Got the double handset Panasonic pack for my parents before christmas. One handset quickly developed issues - an inbound caller could hear them but they couldn't hear anything. When I was down for Christmas I brought them back and got a replacement set from Argos.

As of last week, one handset is basically useless with the same issue as the previous set and the other handset has a REALLY crap battery life ie. it doesn't last a day off the charger and my parents wouldn't use it allot.

The handsets also have crap volume. My parents have lost the receipt and I think they're just going to bin it.

In contrast, a no name brand cheapy gave two years fine service until it was dropped onto concrete.

For me in future - Panny for tvs. Not for phones.

I have no issue with those Pannys and if the battery does go then its a generic nimh aa or aaa rechargeable not some strange yoke that costs a fortune. I have the kx7ca-120e models

argos also have a triple set of 'southern bell' or 'southwest bell badged models, one wired to wall and 2 wireless slave units that works fine in my experience as well.

saves a lot of messy wiring around the hoose :p

I've had 2 panasonic dect phones for 3 years now and still work great. couldn't tell you the product code. Both are on recharger bases, only one is hooked up to phoneline the other can be plugged in any where.

Charge only died once when left lying around carelessly, if you're not using it you may as well leave it on the base recharging...

Oh almost forgot, one broke recently but nothing electonic, just don't throw them against a wall....now there's a story I'm not repeating

Oh and it's worth noting that if the electricity goes, so did my receiver so NO landline!

Pannys are considered one of the best brands for DECT phones.

Of course you get what you pay for, I've got a Panny TCD-580, superb sound quality, battery life, mute button, headset port, ideal phone for working from home on teleconferences. Of course it cost over €100 for just one handset. I'd love to get a few extra handsets, but unfortunately a discontinued line.

I got a panasonic KXTCD300 dect for the house xmas before last from amazon for something like €40 delivered; crystal clear reception, blow the ear off your head at top volume, only needs charged once a week, nice colour LCD, SMS and speakerphone.
I didn't expect much for 40 quid but the phone is quality...I can't see why panny would let their standards slip on such a basic item...
