    Hi folks,

I donno if this is the right forum for this, so if not please feel free to move it to the relevant home.

Anyway, here's the thing.... i want to design and print up a few t-shirt (on white cotton) and wondered how I got about it. I understand that you can get T-shirt printing sheets, but where?

And also, how does it work. My plan is to design the image and text I wish to place on the t-shirt onto these sheets and then iron it onto the t-shirts. How does this process work though? Has anyone ever done this before? What kinda printer do I need, I currently have a colour laser jet printer, should that matter or does it have to be an inkjet printer? And lastly where can I buy these t-shirt print sheets (I'm in South Tipp)? And how much do they cost?

I'm not worried about the cost of the T-shirts as I can pick those up reasonably cheap from the like of Dunnes etc.

    All replies, gratefully appreciated.

    Regards,
    memphis

Thanks for your reply boarderco. This is something I wanna do myself though really. I don't know how many colours and what design I want as of yet, nor do I know how many t-shirts I want yet. This is something I wanna do for college to be honest.

Hence why I wanna know where I can get these t-shirt printing sheets, and what kinda printer I need to do the prints on.

    BUMP

Sorry to do this, I actually hate to see folks bumping threads, but I'm just gonna give one last shot at this.... so where can I buy these t-shirt printing sheets, and what kinda printer should I be using?

Surely somebody reading here can help..... please, please,..... PLEASE!!!!

This won't be much good, but I got those iron on sheets a few years ago in Argos. They worked quite well using a deskjet. Not professionally looking, but decent.

Thanks alot for the replies. Thats what I'm looking for Myth. I'll give Argos a try at some point. They don't need to be overly professional, I just wanna print up a few t-shirts for a college campaign which I'm hoping to run in a few months down the line. So, the t-shirts will be very very simply with detail I assure you.

Thanks also to damonjewel for that link, nice one. Cheers folks!

    Hi memphis,
Think what you need is called transfer paper and I know it is available on ebay, haven't used it but the idea is that what ever you won't printed is on the computer and you print it with an ink jet printer and onto this paper then you just iron on the design to the t-shirt or what ever you want,
friend brought some of this transfer paper from her local computer shop, don't know how much as didn't ask her but on e-bay its about £4.99 i think for 4 or 5 A4 sheets,
Hope it works out ok I intend trying it out as I want to quilt my son an american truck that he used to drive in the states, havn't been able to find a ready made panel so was going to try this with one of his photos

Ya ive used those transfers before. A standard printer will do.. You just reverse your logo/text on the comp and iron on.. Anything other than white will leave a crappy looking wet patch around the logo.. but you could cut all the white out... and they look well

    boarderco
.. where are you based.. i need t-shirts!

Hell, i'm some thick.... i never even thought about looking on ebay... so ya call this paper "transfer" paper is it? And any printer will do, once i just reverse the image on the PC, then print it and iron it on?

Hi just thought I'd let you know brought some transfer paper at a local computer shop 19.99 for ten a4 sheets,
Even comes with instructions which is handy.;)
Sorry to sound really dim but how do you manage to reverse the image or logo/text :(

You reverse it in whatever program you're using on the computer... so if you're using MS Paint, go up to 'Image' in the menu bar and then go to 'Flip/Rotate'. And then Flip it.

If it's an image you might get away without reversing it.

Just from a business perspective, but do ye thik there could be some money to be made outta printing these t-shirt? Even just a bit of pocket money as such?

U said ur in south tipp. I saw packets of transfer paper for sale in Pc World in Waterford city last week. Not sure about the price tho. If that helps.

PC world, eh? Thanks funky84..... I'm sure the other computer stores or even office supply shops do em to, must take a look in Clonmel and see what I can locate.

Again, do ye folks think there is money to be made printing t-shirts like this? No?? Yes??

Would say there is as long as you can source cheap plain t-shirts and target you design to where you are selling, ie no point in heading to a rock concert with t-shirts with tractors on.
Have to make sure you use your own designs or copyright free designs.
