    Hi all,

Just wondering if any of ye are former smokers?
How did you find training after going off them?
Was there a weight loss/weight gain?

    I have smoked for over 10 years - 20 a day.
I gave them up in January and started going to the gym.
Have to say I have noticed a great improvement in myself.
Feel great these days and don't think about the ciggies much at all!

Anyone else have any experiences to share?

First, keep up the good work, you're doing well so far, stick to it!!!

The hardest thing I found when giving up was going out, I loved having a smoke with a pint (and still do). What I found helped me was instead of saying "right I'm not going to have any tonight" I'd say "Well if I feel like it I'l have one or two", that way there was no pressure on me not to have none. Sometimes I had a few other times I had none at all. I still do this although I rarely actually smoke any.

I suppose I'm more jsut haveing a break from smoking than actually giving up, but it does work for me.

Chances are this year I'll have a total of 10 cig's it's not as healthy as having none, but it's a lot easier for you to phase the smokes out, and you still enjoy a relaxing puff (no jokes please) if you really want one.

I did "relapse" a couple of times in January when I was out for a beer but in general i'm really happy with it.
The gym has been a huge help though!

Ohh right here, used to be the same 20 a day man for about 8 years, gave up for a about 3 months then started smoking cigars, ( Yummy) and stuck with them for 2 years. decided there @ the start of january i was sick of wasting my money.

    And stopped.

Straight up . havent had one since, havent really though about having one either, i mean sure it's on the back of my mind, but my usual responce is meh.

As for fitness, it's hard to say. i find the gym a good way to keep my mind off them, but as of late i have a cold and find it tough to breath any way :(

but keep up the work and dont bother going back on them it's not really worth it in the end.
