6 and 7 foot regular bars are available. www.gymratz.co.uk have them and will ship to Ireland. If you are looking for an Irish supplier try the usual suspects i.e.

I got a 6ft in bray (I know, not dublin but close!) it was in the shop across from the superquinn complex just as you enter bray. It was €35

It is a bit too big for my room, I would swop it for €5+ a 5ft solid bar, or a 5ft solid bar + 2x2.5kg iron plates, or bar+4x1.25kg plates.

You drive a hard bargain! ( my lightest weight plates are 5kg and I need them)

How much did the 6ft bar cost you origionally?

The 6ft was €35, a 5ft is €30. Thats why I put in the €5 difference, weights in argos are €23 for 20kg so I went for about the same in plates. Many people have no use for smaller plates anymore and may have extras.

In argos you can get a 50kg york set, with 5ft bar and 2 dumbells and the rest of the weight made up in plates (biggest plates are only 5kg though). I thought you/somebody might have got that set and now wanted a 6ft instead of the 5ft it comes with.

The argos set is a good price but I originally got the 20kg dumbell set and have no need for 4 dumbells. Plus I would end up with millions of tiny plates.

Workout world is on the northside opposite where virgin was, near o'connel street, cant miss it, it has big full length windows. I find it pricey though.
    Mickk might be cheap.

It might be an idea to consider "taking the plunge" and investing in an Olympic weight set. You're going to pay at least 40 quid for a 7 foot regular bar on its own. You could get a 140kg Olympic set for 219 euros from VJhomefitness in Blanchardstown and IIRC Mickk was talking about selling similar sets for about 200 quid.

I would have bought an olympic set originally but I didnt do enough research. I only bought the weights and bench in september. I'd buy the olympic barbell set now except I dont have an olympic standard bench just a regular york one from argos. Has anyone on here got an olympic bench and how much did it cost?

One more question would a normal york bench be able to hold an olympic bar ( as in would the fitings have enough space for the bar?) Thanks

The bench I have is this one http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=30001&langId=-1&catalogId=10751&productId=747838&Trail=C%24cip%3D52019.Sports%2Band%2Bleisure%3EC%24cip%3D52073.Home%2Bgym%2Bequipment%3EC%24cip%3D52077.Weight%2Blifting%2Band%2Bexercise%2Bbenches&categoryId=52077&clickfrom=image
