Loft access cover

I've turned the loft hatch into a trap door but on two sides of the opening there is no wooden trim just a rough edge where the plasterboard is attached to the joist. There is no room to cover this with wood and even when the architrave is put back on it will still be visible.

Has anyone any suggestions as to how this can be hidden or made presentable?
