    whats the timetable like?
hows the content in comparison to broad business degrees? (ie: is it too specialised too early?)
what are the employment opportunities like?
    is postgrad study essential?
    is boston good?!?
    is the work experience good?

any help you can give me would be very much appreciated!

Give it some time norm13, there are plenty of business heads around here so you'll get an answer in awhile I'm sure.

Hey, not doing this course but one of my friends is. He's off in Boston at the mo but I can give you some basic info.

    1. The timetable is pretty easy. About 15 hours a week in first year.
Down to about 12 hours a week in second year. Once you get to Boston things change alittle but I'll get to that later.

    2. As far as I can remember the content is mostly broad business particularly in first year with just a couple of modules like American History/Politics etc differing from everyone else.

    3. Employment opportunities: Can't help you with this one I'm afraid. Gotta be better than plain business though.

    4. Postgrad Study essential: Don't know tbh.

    5. As far as college is concerned Boston (Northeastern), like most other foreign Universities, runs things completely different than Ireland. It seems to be alot more like a secondary school set up with compulsory lectures and lots of home-work. Thats not to say its not good fun. I was over there in September and there was a great atmosphere among the class and they were all helpin each other out.

If you won't be 21 before 3rd year dont worry too much. Even though Boston must be the single most strict city re underage drinking...
(I was on a J1 over the summer and had a crap fake Irish driver's license. Didn't get questioned once in Philadelphia, New York, Washington or Atlantic City. Got to Boston and couldn't get served. They don't accept foreign driver's licenses at all in the city.)
...all the action takes place at the college parties which are just crazy. Northeastern is 70:30 girls to lads ratio too.

    6. As far the work experience goes it's really a mixed bag. Some of the placements are crap and some of them are really enjoyable and most of them you'll just be sittin at a computer doing nothin all day. You gotta do your research beforehand. Talk to people who were in the same company last year and get their feedback. Ask them what the people in the office are like and how the pay compares with other places. IMO it's better to do a college course with placement than without because it's gonna give you something relevant to talk about at an interview. AFAIK the EBT (European Business Transatlantic) placement is no different to the other Business placements. (the Irish one anyway)

Anyways hoped that helped you some. You should check out the DCU webpage for more detailed info on the timetable and modules. (EBT is the course code) And remember this is all second-hand information and as such may not be 100% accurate but it's the impression I got off my mate anyways.
