does such a contraption exist that has both a satellite and aerial input so that digital (or analog) terrestial and satellite channels can be viewed with the box to eliminate the need for two remotes and changing to an AV input on the television?

    TIA

is there digital tv (DVB) in ireland existent at all???

you might use a kind of 5-in-1 one remote controls to avoid fiddling around with them. i use one for TV, Sat, DVD and WIFI UPnP player.

there is a trial broadcasting from three rock in dublin at the moment. I want to avoid using an all in one remote and just have all channels, both sat and terrestial at 1,2,3,4 etc

    See ReelBox
    http://www.reel-multimedia.com/english/endkunde/reelbox.html

You can have up to two tuner modules, each any mix of Satellite, Digital Terrestrial or Cable (Cable won't work here).

Each module can be a twin tuner, i.e, watch one Satellite channel while the Internal hard disk records another.

There are other cheaper, but not quite as nice Hardware, combo Terrestrial/Satellite receveivers. Some with nicer SW.

    Google.

I think only Reelbox is designed to have up to 4 tuners, HDD (300G typical), Dual layer DVD writer, Ethernet, USB, Firewire, SCART in /out etc.. Option for HD / HDMI or WiFi too.

Or you can build a Linux / XP / Media Centre / Vista box with Analogue TV, Digitial Terrestrial, (hybrid dual tuner) & Dual HD Satellite tuners.

I have such a box, about a month old. Will probably sell, as it's not really what I was looking for. PM me if interested.
