    Dear Students,

You will notice that marks for BI105 in DCUBS have all been recorded as
    deferred
(D). The reason for this is that the results are under review as the
    distribution
of results was significantly different from the distribution that would be
expected from such a module. As we anticipate that there may be substantial
revision of these marks, we are taking the precaution of asking an
external examiner to review these marks before releasing them to students.

We anticipate that the revised results will be available by March 22nd.
I will be in touch with you again as soon as the results are available.
In the meantime, please contact me if you have any questions (x5396 or
    anne.sinnott@dcu.ie).

ho hum, this was an interesting module, creativity and discovery, anyway, the marks were 40% for attendence and 60% for a written submission at the end of the semester.

The lecturer didn't expect much in the submission, just basically writing out what we did in each lecture, just throwing together something similar to his notes. So as a lazy student I didn't put in much effort...

I'm not worried about failing or anything, it's the principle! Surely they can't just move the goal posts after everything is done? I based my hand-up on his requested guidelines, now it's going to be marked under a stricter marking scheme than I envisaged or prepared for?

Anyone have any experience about this?

Never had this happen to me, sounds a bit dodgy though.

    That module sounds very basic.

No one said it would be a stricter marking scheme.

go to your 2nd semester lectures.

thermo & kinetics isn't too hard
    either is micro & genetics
    the maths is easy
and the other module (cant remember it now) is passable.

pass this semester and you'll just have 4 repeats, which is do-able

i had 4 repeats last summer and i got thru...

i failed three exams so im there with ya . tho this PS210 fiasco could prove to help us. the powers that be in chemical science are apparantly very very very annoyed with one lecturer

I heard barely anyone passed that optics module this year. The mad thing its being scrapped in the near future. Terrible ye folks (and some folk I know repeating it again) have to do an exam which will be soon deemed obsolete.

dont worry in my year (i'm final year now) over half the class failed that optics paper and i can tell you from expeirence that going up and asking him to go through it with you will not help at all! Also if odilla is still doing the thermo course be careful the notes we had were riddled with mistakes including the classic on the front page H2 + Cl gives HCl and when we said it to her she still didnt see the mistake

    The
external examiner has reviewed the marks and has recommended that they
remain as they are i.e., no change will be made

    ship it!
