Sky available without a dish?

Searched for this on forum but couldn't find anything...
Is Sky Digital (normal, + or HD) available in Ireland without having to get a dish installed? I'm moving into an apartment soon and the Management Company won't allow a dish on the building or a communal dish on the roof. Is there any way around getting Sky Digital without having to get a dish installed?

You can't get the Sky service without a dish (normal, + or HD), however if cable TV is available in your area then you can get most of the channels from the Sky service, including Sky One, Sports, Movies via cable TV.

There is only one major cable TV operator who currently operates under the brand names www.ntl.ie and www.chorus.ie but will soon be changed to www.upc.ie

Check if their available in your apartment. Unfortunately the disadvantage is that they currently don't offer HD or + services at the moment.

Also you might not be able to get cable in your apartment, you might be getting the TV service via IPTV from either www.magnet.ie or www.smarttelecom.ie which further limits your options.

There are a number of alternatives to the usual dishes. This has cropped up on boards before, and people have suggested mini dishes that fit into boxes you can place on your window, and dishes that fit into outdoor lamps too.

Thanks for that bk, do you think NTL will eventually have a HD digital service? The apartment is in the Clondalkin area so I reckon NTL will cover that area.

Thanks Ned! What companies install Sky in Ireland/Dublin? I might try contacting them to see what kind of dishes they supply, I might be able to get a mini dish and hide it on the balcony.

I was out at the apartment complex last night having a look around and noticed someone had a dish on the balcony, it was an average sized dish and they were on the ground floor in full view of anyone walking by. I don't know how these people are able to get away with it??

Well they say they will and they will probably need to in order to compete with Sky, but it probably won't happen for another 12 months.
