ok it is generally the view on this form that it is a pretty amature thing to open limp but something Mr pillowtalker said got me thinking

if you have A (K, Q or J) UTG do you open limp?

the reason Mr PillowTalker gave for limping with these types was that it reduced his Varience on these hands

anyone agree or is it limp and call a raise?

open limping any hand is bad, so open limping these hands would be pretty terrible.
I started to flat call with ak pre flop if the pot was hu, made it more profitable and less variance playing ak out of the blinds. I still reraise it in position usually but against an aggresive player will call about 50% of the time instead of raising. I thought I was losing a lot of value by not raising it but you actually gain from the extra action you get from worse aces on ace high flops.

do u mean this quote? I'm pretty sure he means he flat calls a raise rather than reraising.

yeah i was refering to that quote.

And you'd never open limp even to mix it up a bit?

    " Only open limp with 22 \ 2-7 and 2-6. Do a min double raise with 34 \56 or 910 off.
If anybody comes over the top of you start counting your chips\stare at your opponent then look at your cards. Repeat this process for 3-6mins (variance is very important here) before folding.
Then everybody will know you folded a monster and will respect your limps from there on it. This will work especially well at $10 rebuy tournaments which I play constantly. Last week I finished 10th in 1 pocketing a cool $11.58" - Doyle Bronson 2007
