    Hi

Playing live MTT. Heads-up on flop: he bets I raise-he calls. On turn he bets. While waiting my action he is showing his cards to other players at table. Is this allowed?

I never complain when an opponent shows someone else his cards. Now you have 2 or 3 people to try and get a read off and thats a good thing..

Although it's certainly not allowed, you could request his hand to be mucked.

Depending on where the venue is, if it's in a pub I can't see them taking you serious.

I totally agree, I love it when players do it. If he is foolish enough to be showing others his cards that's his business. But if it bothers you say it to the dealer.

I don't know the exact ruling but I would imagine if you made an issue of it there would be a warning to the player about doing it in future and nothing more. Obviously depends on where you are playing.

Not in any proper poker game.

    Guys

Not disagreeing on the 'reads' point. What I am looking for, for future reference, is a definitive ruling in a properly managed tournament.

in a properly managed tournament if you expose a live hand to anyone inc. spectators - your hand is dead.

but..... if a player accidentally exposes his hand he may continue in the hand but will not be allowed raise at any point.

I don't think I know any TD who would kill his hand here and I wouldn't either, unless he was given advice from another player. Otherwise he gets a harsh warning but his hand is still live, on the basis that he was too inexperienced to know any better.

I suppose it comes down to "house rules" again. I know at the first GJP event I saw Devore direct, he announced at the start that any hand exposed to ANYONE was dead.

It should be dead. If this happened in a tourney and I was involved I would tell the dealer. If the dealer didnt do anything call the tournement director over. If he doesnt do anything simply rip your cards up and leave the casino.
The next time you sit down at a specific venue\tourney and are unsure get them to clarify before the tourney commences.

if they didn't do anything when you asked them to they will hardly act now that you ruined a deck,
now all that you have done is remove the chances that you will cash, and are possibly barred

How lovely it would be to have a standardised set of rules that were used in all cardrooms in Ireland.

I have real dificulty in understanding why this is so difficult to achieve

Try and enforce the show one show all rule....during the hand!! If you fold you definitely should ask to see the cards.
