So they say but they have not said they will put a stop to it, just that they will look into it if they get elected.

Big differance between stopping something and simply saying something is bad and maybe we might do something about it.

See my Question "If elected will FG /LAB definetly insist of searching military planes using shannon". 3 pages later and in another thread I finially got my answer that FG could not say either way whether or not they would search the planes if in government.

The question you have to ask is,
Why can they not just come straight out and say they definetly will search the planes if elected to government?

i've benn told by FG politicians that they will. but recently has it become a definite policy. you'll have to remember that FG are a very pro-europe party. it is een that these flights are going going against europeans.

    Sorry, what?

Did you just say searching military planes using our air space is a FG election promise and it definetly will happen if they form the next government.......

or did you say something else along the lines of.........

some of FG want to but there is some resistance to the idea within the party so I can't say for sure that it will happen should FG form the next government.

There's an interesting account originally published in the Chicago Tribune here, and it's about the rendition and subsequent imprisonment of Abu Omar, it's an interesting story. A plane known as the "Guantánamo Express", stopped off at Shannon to refuel after taking part in the rendition. Abu Omar is an Egyptian cleric.
