Anyone using Windows XP/Vista media center should try WebGuide 4 (http://asciiexpress.com/webguide/) Very handy for recording and streaming pretty much anything from a remote location. I just tried it out there its cool.

So i'll leave you to ponder as i watch live TV while sitting at the desk in work. I love this. :D:D

What's the catch? Is there one?

No real catch, well i dont think so. Try it for free thenbuy it for $18 if you like. Not bad if you ask me. You can stream music and video files saved on your PC. Its turns every PC with a browser to a MCE extender.

I stumped up a PayPal for the author of WebGuide - he deserves it !

Having said that, I can't get the streaming to work - I believe there's a known issue with streaming when using the PAL version of Nvidia MPEG2 decoder on the MCE machine, but I guess there's also a problem with the PAL version of Intervideo's decoder too, as that's what I have.

I'm not bothered though. I like WG4 purely for the reasons that I can connect in over the internet and setup recordings, look at the Guide, pull down my "My Pictures", "My Videos" and "My Music" content.

Webguide was bought by Microsoft and made a free upgrade to all Media Center users. It basically streams all video, music, photos and TV across the net.
