What do people think about him atm?.His star does seem to be on the wane after a few mediocre rides (Catch Me at Leop last Saturday a howler).

Why is he still on In Compliance but doesn't get the other Mulryan/O'Brien horses?.

I'm pretty sure we had a discussion on here before about certain jockeys, him, Paul Carberry, etc. I'm still of the opinion that his riding style is alot to be desired and he strangles a horse upon landing - alot more so than any other jockey, it's really noticable.

He is afraid to fall off the horse I think he lost his bottle.

It's tough to say, I've said that before in the previous thread that it really does look like he's holding on for dear life but to be honest it looks more awkward than anything. Maybe he is afraid of falling off.

As McCoy cheekly said "I don't see why people would be afraid of falling off, you're only in pain for five minutes and after that you're on morphine."

BJ is grand when he's riding a horse, its when he's got the race won coming to the last - its heart in mouth time.

he fell off enuff of them to be used to it by now -sometimes show boats -his usual line is 'i asked him for a long one............'

imo he asks when it not nessicary-having said this when he gives a good ride he is up there with the best of them -

Silly comment - jockeys risk their lives everytime they race.

I read on another forum that Barry doesn't do as much schooling as he used to and its costing him some rides.

He's still one of the strongest around in a finish no matter what you might think about the rest of his race riding.

Yeh of course they do but its their choice.
its just the way I think BJ is riding for maybe the past year something doesnt seem right and IMHO its he has lost his bottle.

Geraghty is ok. But he is often lumped into the top bracket of jockeys, when he is nowhere near, and never was as good Ruby, AP, Carberry, Murphy, R Johnson.

And I would prefer to have the next bracket down Lee, Dobbin, Brennan riding for me.

Has benefitted from being a big fish in a small pond for a long time.

wow im shocked at this, i think this has something to do with him not having his high profile horses Moscow Flyer and Kicking King anymore. Barry is still a really good jock imo and i think perhaps he doesnt have the ammunition of the past few years at the moment. id have him on a par with Johnson but behind the others Morgans mentions.

Its nothing to do with the high profile ammunition. Those horses won despite having Barry Geraghty on their back, not because of him.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, the amount of horses that make mistakes at the last under him is inordinately high. Even more so in high class races. OK, we all know Kicking King in the King George, and you would think that BJG would have been able to help Moscow Flyer over that ditch at the top of the hill at Chelt as well as the second last at Punchestown (two fences that he had trouble with each time he met them) I'm convinced that MF would have won more had he had a better jockey partnering him.

Forget the Past was clear and looking to have the Powers Gold CUp won before two mistakes at teh second last and the last allowed McCoy and Like A Buttefly in

Essex made a desperate mistake at the last in the Pierse with the race sewn up and only that the horse was about 2 stone well in that he was able to recover to beat Mansony

Macs Joy when going best against Brave Inca and Hardy Eustace made a mistake at the last when winning the AIG, allowing those two with an opportunity to get back.

There are others that I cant think off the top of my head, and just when I thought that I was being overly hard on him (he gave Hill Port a stunning ride at Christmas) he rides ANother Nation at Gowran Park where he was backed off the boards for RObert Tyner. Clear with the race in safe keeping, BJG once again gets it all wrong at the alst, and leaves Bluestone Lad in to win.

That and going the wrong side of Leading Run on Catch Me made me realise that I was right all along.

BJG is OK, but shouldnt be regarded as a top flight jockey. I can accept arguments that he is in the top ten, but only by the skin of his teeth.

I aven't been impressed with geraghty at all this year. He must have rocks in his head for his ride on catch me saturday. everone could see that leading run was jumping violently right. Carberry brought aran concerto inside him at the flights but what does geraghty do? His ride on the same horse at xmas also left a lot to be desired.

Have to be honest if i owned a horse he wouldn't be in my top five list of jockeys I'd like to use.
