    No...
I got mine in a garage at the back of the house, with an alarm on the garage and one on the bike. I also have a nice big cable on it too...but still know if someone wants it, they will get it.

Mine is garaged too. Leaving a good bike outside every night is a bad idea unless there's a few good locks on it and a ground anchor.

I hate that feeling you get when you think you heard somethin outside and you simply have to check to be sure......all it takes is one of them 29euro bolt cutters from aldi which i am sure all the thievin scum have invested in..to be away with your bike .......so know I never feel its safe

Having had three bikes nicked (all locked to immovable objects, one in a "secure" underground car park, one with an alarm), I know it's not safe, so I insure accordingly, and just don't worry about it anymore. Sure, I'd love to run 30kV through the frame when it's parked, to...ehhh...charge the battery, but if little Tommy "Tinker" Ward wasn't adequately warned, during his latest home invasion, he could get all hurted. I'd feel so guilty, and I'm sure the courts system would ensure that I did too. Assuming they could find the body, of course. Anybody on here own a pig farm?

    :D

    I agree.

I have my bike locked to my Royal Enfield.

The deal is, if you steal one you steal them both.

your bike is never safe no matter where u leave it! i park mine out the front of the house, its a row of terraced townhouses with one big parking bay marked out front,i have a ground anchor fitted at the edge of the path. i've never had an attempted theft of it but i have had some little b*stards push it over twice and slash the saddle once. last week my new next door neighbour swapped his car for his brothers moped for a couple of days, asked could he lock the bike to my ground anchor-no probs. next day i got home from work about 7 pm,his bike was'nt around, assumed he had'nt arrived back himself. half hour later he calls to my house asking had i seen his bike,he had got home at 5 but did'nt lock it,was waiting for me to arrive, had only left it outside for a few minutes and it was robbed:eek: cops came, took details but tbh he'll probably never see it again, was a peugot, not sure what model but the usual sporty type that they like to take,i always put the lack of attempted theft of mine down to my bike being to 1)stylish 2)obvious,its an aprilia mojito custom, not your usual sporty moped eg. sr 50 etc, goes to show though, you can't take your eyes off ypur baby for a minute:confused:

i use an underground car park (where a bike was nicked just before xmas!). I have nothing secure to lock it too. I have an immobiliser and alarm with motion sensor thing. PLus the lock i use is top of the line one. but theres no guarantees!

Well after my neighbour cut my brake cables last night, I would have to say no, it's not safe.

Only reason I didnt get killed is because the bike won't start unless both breaks are engaged.....A safety feature that I used to hate until now.

NO

Just had my Ducati Monster knicked in the last few hours from outside my house. Been in hospital for the last week so its been a sitting duck. I'm in a quiet cul de sac in Lucan with no through traffic so it has to be some sh1theads on the prowl. Gutted. Off to drop my keys and licencing cert to the insurers.

I'll probably end up getting sweet FA from the insurers, having to add a few grand to get a replacement, and then pay them back with rediculous premiums over the next few years.

    Aggggggghhhhhhhhhhh

really sorry to hear that, just read over on biker.ie that there seems to be a serious increase in bike thefts recently.

It's gangs, financed by Hibernian, determined to undermine any efforts by other insurers to enter the Irish market, before they re-enter the market themselves in a coupla years time with massively inflated premiums, justified by the runaway bike theft numbers.

Now that I think of it, it's probably gangs of Hibernian employees. God knows they're experts at robbery. :D

He didn't like me perhaps? He's convinced I ratted on him to the TV licence inspecter (I didnt, but he should have a tv licence anyway).

Thanks. Just really frustrated at the moment. The only saving grace is I'm on sickleave for 2 weeks so have a chance to organise things before I go back. If I was in work I'd be lost.

What do they do with them? Resell them here? Break them up for parts? Robberies? Export and resell?

Need to start the hunt for a replacement now. Was in the Ducati shop but they have no Monsters at the minute. They have a 900 monster but I'm restricted until June as I don't have my full licence 2 years yet.

They do have a lovely shiney 1098 though!!! What a beauty. Better get my lotto ticket in.
