I believe they are now giving quotes for bikes, has anybody got one...?All I have heard third hand is that they will only take you with a full license.Competition is good so lets see if they can shake things up a bit.

Yup, if you dial 1850 77 1850, press 1 for motor insurance, and then press 2 for Motorcycle Insurance, you get through.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

They're only taking people with level 2 skills assesment, or 2 year's no claims FYI.

I just got a quote off them there.
    4 years NCB
    Full Licence
    Grade 2 Aon assessment
    Ducati Monster 620ie (err.... restricted ;) )

    €572 Fully comp
    €360 odd TP
    €470 TPF&T

Not to bad at all. My current Aon insurance is €406 fully comp though. So should be interesting to see how things are next year :)

Question is do they do any dual policy? E.g. Car + Bike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,109 ✭✭✭sutty

I knew I forgot to ask something :(

If they do or plan to, it be nice. I'd happly change over come this time next year. (Bikes up in November and car in Jan)

I just rang them there. Sadly nothing as of yet and no discounts for the two. However she did not know if there where any future plans. She said to email info@quinn-direct (dot) com

And someone might be able to get back on it. (I didn't email them though)

Anyone know if they do classic policies? I'm guessing CN are gonna be hard to beat in this area.

How about penalty points? Do they ask? Offer a discount?
Does your bike have to be garaged for fully comprehensive?
    Breakdown/recovery service?
    Insurance while abroad?
    Insurance on other vehicles?
    NCB Protection?
    Recognise AON assessment? ROSPA?

I know, I know.. I should ring them myself..
But I'm lazy.. ..and you might not be...

Nice to see that they offer TP and TPF&T.

Current policy which will end in June cost me €1100 with AON last year.

No new age bracket this year but 1 more year NCB.

Worked out at €575 with QD. I never told them about my 2 penalty points though so will have to add a hundred or so I'd say.

Be interesting to see what it is from AON when I ask for my renewal.

    Looks good though.

Now that's a discount worth talking about.

    Yamaha Fazer 03' 600cc

Age: 25 Location: Meath (Heh, didn't include this myself!)

    Quinn:
    TPO = €978.18
    TPFT = €1187.26

    Aon:
    TPO = €630

    Don't think Quinn recognise restriction.

Big difference , certainly makes the decision to get a new bike a lot easier.

For a BMW R1200GSA, age 29, meath, 7years NCB, full licence over 2 years, alarmed, garaged (with a metal alarmed door - they ask this!):
    702 TPO
They won't quote me for anything else as the bike is too expensive (€20,000)

    Aon charge:
    730 TPO
    1300 Fully comp

    CN:
    870 TPO
    2500!! Fully comp.

    I'm staying with AON

Christ! My quote from BMW in the UK for the same bike is £700, fully comp. Age 34, full license since September (started riding in September) and 0 NCB.

Makes no sense. I pay 428 fully comp on a Porsche 911 ( classic) but a 50cc scooter is over 500 TPO???

I have not insured it yet had it back in Ireland over a year.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,397 ✭✭✭Paparazzo

Sure my mate got his landrover insured (fully comp) for cheaper than my 650 dominator, and i just got 3rd party! What does more damage if it hits a car?

Mr. Pudding: I put my details into e-bike.co.uk and got a quote for £190 fully comp F&T. Insurance seems to be another one of those things that seems to be about 10 times (literally!) more expensive here than most other places!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,550 ✭✭✭✭Krusty_Clown

Hi Paparazzo, does that 20K include luggage etc? Just wondering how much it might be if you were under their limit..

BTW: I presume Quinn don't recognise anything moire than 5 years NCB, right? Once you hit 5 years you're on your NCB limit..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,397 ✭✭✭Paparazzo

Yeah, that includes luggage. I remember one of the other 2 (Aon or CN, not sure which) told me they wouldn't insure against theft if the bike was over 10k.
I also assume it's the 5 years no claim, but I had 7 so just said that when they asked how many years no claims
