In the process of building a 2 or 3TB NAS (Network Attached Storage) Box using the Infrant ReadyNAS NV 4-drive SATA RAID BOX and looking for Hard Drives to fill it up. I have a 500GB 16MB Cache 7200RPM Hitatchi Deskstar in my system at the moment which I bought on ebay for about €150 including delivery. Its a good drive and id probably be happy using four of these in the NAS box but need a good source. I dont really want to buy the drives off ebay because I want them to be new, less chance of problems and some sort of warranty/return policy for reliability in the NAS box.

    I am already aware of:
    Komplett.ie
    Jes-computer
    7dayshop
    svp.co.uk

    Any suggestions welcome.

The only other place I can think of is dabs.ie but they probably won't be any cheaper than komplett.ie. Will keep looking.

    Try Computer Universe.

I don't know what their prices are like for hard drives, but if you've got a VAT registration number they'll let you buy at zero vat rate and their prices are generally a bit cheaper than most places.

I already knew Dabs but thanks anyway.

Computer Universe seems pretty good, they have a good selection and the prices aren't bad, Im also VAT registered so that would come in handy when ordering from them.

I wish Irish suppliers would wake up, get with the times and stop trying to rip people off but I suppose I might as well keep dreaming there!

    Thanks again,

Cheers for the overclockers link, bought four 500GB Seagate Barracuda's at £90 each.

Komplett.co.uk has a similar price £89.95 (delivery extra): http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=331024 Interestingly the same hard drive on the Irish site is €149.96: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=331024
As 89.95 British Pound is 135.03 Euro, Komplett have increased the price for Irish customers by almost €15 (€14.93) on this item. :(

I said previously that I bought four 500GB drives from overclockers, well they arrived. Unfortunately they will all be going back, whatever idiot packed the hard drives stacked them one on top of each other with no packaging in between. As a result, they grinded off eachother and components have been damaged on the controller boards (The components actually tore through the antistatic bags the drives are in). There was no indication on the outside of the box to the courier that the contents were in any way fragile so its possible that someone has been playing football with the package.

The reason I didn't buy these drives off eBay and was looking for an online shop was that I wanted to make sure they arrived in perfect working order and that they would last, really disappointed with the service I have received from overclockers.co.uk .
