:D I bought this beautiful book today for €2.50 in a bookstore in town.. Its called The Camera, (By the Editors of Time-Life Books). Its a revised edition from 1974.
Totally brilliant! I'm thrilled with it! :D
Some really inspiring old old photos and so on!
I had a look online now but its quite vast... Could anyone suggest any more modern ones that stand out from the rest? The camera I will be using suits this book  but I hope to get a digital at some stage.
Or general photography book chat would be welcome on this thread too.. other books or famous/not-so-well-known photographers (worldwide) that have books printed? ........
    :)

ok just looking thorough the bookshelf and this is what I got.

1984 - Gallery Press - Photography The Creative Art
Great book for anyone starting out and wanting to pick up technique an all the major areas of photography but some of the shots are quite dated.

    1987 - John Hedgecoe's - Practical Portrait photography
Quite dated and covers a bit too much basic camera technique. Would not recommend to anyone.

1992 - Michael Freeman - The Encyclopedia of Practical Photography
This is an excellent book which covers just about everything and more on film and a must buy if starting out. Totally recommend.

1995 - Jahre Photojournalismus - 150 Years of Photo journalism
Great book of images covering just about every instance of photojournalism in the history of camera...... Well most of them anyway. Oh yea print quality not the best.

1997 - Michael Freeman - An Introduction to Photography
Covers all the basics of 35mm bit lacks in technique and quality of imagery.

2000 - The Complete Photography Manual
Well not that complete but dose have a wealth of knowledge on composition and common sense. Would recommend to beginners in film and but not digital.

2001 - Michelle Olley - Love Lust Desire
Great book of images showcasing some of the greatest erotic artists of the 90's. Would recommend

2003 - Jon Gray - The complete Guide to beauty and glamor photography.
Great print quality and stuffed full on information on setting up and getting the job done. Would recommend.

    2004 - Serge Normant - Metamorphosis
Book of images which is a great source of inspiration for fashion portraits. Recommended

    2005 - Caroline Cox - Stiletto
Excellent book of images and captions for anyone with a shoe fetish. Oh wait boots too. Hmm so good

2006 - RotoVision - Photographing people portraits fashion people
By far the best book I have excellent for setting up studio shots. Everyone should have it to hand.

The rest of my books are in storage or in work and my memory is crappy of late.

    Seb.

Seb, Fan~tabby~lous! I'm gonna look at them on Amazon in a bit, might get some fashion tips by the sounds of it! ;) Thanks a mill for giving your opinion on them too!!

Leinsterman, I had a look at the basic one. Amazon has a link to view parts of the book, looks really good. Your link was to American Amazon so I will look at UK site myself. Thank you! :)

    I got two on www.biblio.com
Decided on Basic Photography: Langford, Michael John and also one by Caroline Cox, A Lexicon of Style.
I saw the Serge Normant book mentioned in town over the weekend, but didn't get it, his book "Femme Fetale" looks more interesting imo.
Might have a look in town again at the weekend. :)
