    Hey folks,

Finally got my first electric (been messing around with acoustic for over a year) - got a yamaha pacifica.
I'd love to play some tunes (like Oasis etc), and would like advice on what type pedal to buy?
After a look on Thomann, I was thinking of maybe one of the Ibanez TubeScreamers?
I'm a total novice when it comes to this kinda thing, so all advice and recommendations welcome.

    Cheers

What amp are you going through? As always, check the Microcube for your sounds.

Don't know if this answers your question but I understand that the Bad Monkey is good value for money.

Dont bother with a tubescreamer - the highly regarded ones are the originals, or reissues. Both are pretty expensive, and best when put to use in front of a good valve amp.

What amp are you using? Like Fey said, the microcube is nearly as cheap as a good pedal, and will do clean and distorted, and everything in between, without any pedals.

Ive tonnes of fancy (and much better sounding) gear, but the cube is so quick and handy it gets a lot of use - guitar in the front, ipod with some backing tracks in the back, away you go..:D

Cheers for the info so far folks.
My amp is a Crate GT15.
That BadMonkey looks pretty good alright. 40 Euro on Thomann too.

no distortion advice thread would be complete without a mentioning of the RAT pedal.

probably a bit distortiony for the likes of oasis etc. but it's worth a mention.

The rat is a great pedal but I think the OP would benefit from a better amp. The Microcube or Vox alternative would suffice I think

ahh yes, just saw what amp the OP poster has. Microcube ftw tbh :D

Best thing to do would be go into a store and try them all out.
I started on a pacifica too, really liked that guitar :)

Just remember, youre only going through a 15W amp, so dont get a pedal thatll blow the **** out of it. I made that mistake multiple times.

anybody who has a micrcube will vouch for its versatility.

grab one of them and you'll get the sound u need and even if u don't (by some freak of nature)u could have it sold the day u advertise it,so its win win really.

also as you progress further and want to explore sounds a little bit more you will have a few effects and different amp models to start u off !
