XDA Mini S Sync question

I just got myself a Mini S and I am trying to get it to sync with my computer but for some reason after following the instructions and installing the software all I've got on my screen for the last half hour is a retrieving settings message.

Am I missing something that I should have done?

    Help :(

I'm pretty decent with computers and I only managed to get it to sync once. Try disabling your firewall etc.

Just do what I did. I got a card reader.

I had problems using active sync with my XDA Exec before. It turns out it conflicts with any sort of firewalls etc. As it happened I had to forward ports on my router (don't ask me how that makes sense!) to sort out issues.

Google for the ports it uses if you have a firewall and try that out.

i'd also recommend a card reader. their fairly inexpensive and great for transferring large files quickly (activesync can't really handle large files well at all).

on the other hand if you want to sync mail, appointments etc you probably need AS for this i suppose.

    It did, thanks.

Upgraded to activesync 4.2 and then it worked fine. :)

There was also a program call ustorage or something, basically a "mass device driver" program for the XDA which ment you could browse your memory card via your data cable without having to use Active Sync.

    Have a root around http://www.modaco.com/Pocket-PC-Software-f111.html

    It's call WM5Storage or WM5torage ... (I found it useful!)
