Im a regular user of Quickpark.ie for the summer holidays, i tried to book the car park todays and the site informed me they are not taking booking?!?

What is the procedure OR web site/s for the other long term car parks?

    Thanks in advance.

The website isn't working, but mostly if you just drive up to it it's got spaces. It can mount up, though - I had a €96 parking bill after my last holiday!

Sick Cert - they stopped taking internet bookings last year as it was costing them a fortune. You shoudn't really have any trouble getting a place this time of year. It can be difficult during the summer. If its full you'll have to use the DAA carparks at €8.50 per day. It is not possible to pre-book DAA parking. They have about 25,000 spaces are never technically full as they have a lot of alternative options whereas QuickPark have only about 3,500 spaces.

PS - the notice in www.quickpark.ie referring to technical difficulties is just a cover. I don't think they have any intention of going back to it unless, of course, business plummets.

The easter option maybe OK but will August be a problem? I fly at 7am and the last thing i want is to abandon the car in short term!

Is the DAA one opposite where the buses enter? (north from santry?)

No - you can abandon it in a DAA Long Term.

Long Term Red - beside ALSAA
Long Term Green - Opposite Kealy's pub
Long Term Blue - Beside DB Harristown Depot (off M50)
Long Term Purple - The rear of the staff car park behind the Great Southern

In a crisis situation they also convert Short Term Block C to a Long term.

If the one you go to is full/closed you will be directed to another.

In August, you won't have a hope in hell of getting a spot in Quick Park at 7am.

In the past I've emailed them the night before and they've told me whether they have space.
The website also lists 2 phone numbers (landline and mobile). Ask them!

I'm intrigued .. how was it costing them money?

During busy periods, if you telephone/e-mail the night before enquiring about space for the following morning, they can't guarantee spaces will be still available when you arrive as customers begin coming in from about 2am onwards. Any spaces may be long gone. In fairness however, if you have telephoned, and get the name of the staff member they will squeeze you in, even when full. (But don't tell everyone ;)).

The easiest time to get a space during peak periods is in the evenings and very small hours as the returns have exited and the arrivals haven't come in yet. (Not very practicable though).

Very simple Alun. When lots of people pre-book, they have to ensure that those spaces are available. That means turning away lots of non booked cars arriving at the gate. Lots of empty spaces but they cant be filled as they don't know how long the other customers are going to stay. I think it came to a head around Christmas 2005 when several thousand customers had booked in for the 23rd and Christmas Eve. This meant turning away loads of potential customers for weeks in advance to free up spaces for the pre bookers. It's much easier and more lucrative to utilise a 'first come, first serve basis'. Fill it up, close the gate. Five exit, let five more in etc. Almost 100% occupancy.

PS - presumably, the online booking was introduced as a novelty that DAA didn't have to generate publicity etc. when QuickPark was establishing and they were unsure about it's future. It was a runaway success though.

The first 747 doesn't leave Dublin until 7am, the same time as his flight, and, presumably, he'll be coming in from Shankill so it's not suitable either way.

Sadly if i have to walk past two cars in the driveway and not get in a taxi, it may end in separate apartments!

I think its a 5am check in too, like another day on the job.

Thanks anyway, i might phone the Airport a few days in advance just to be sure.
