Hi, I have noticed on our new house and the rest of houses in the estate that they builders did not install soffit vents for ventillation in the attic, is this a new thing or should they be installed?

If they have used a breathable membrane on the roof, vents are unnecessary. Still a good idea to have some ventillation up there.

Thanks for the reply, would you think it would be a wise move to have a few installed?Would this be a job for a carpenter, upvc installer or someone else?

You should be able to see some brand printing on the felt in your roof space. Get it and search for their agrement certificate on BBACERTS.co.uk or IAB.

YOu'll get clarification whether or not ventilation is required with that particular product.
