Using my laptop last night when the Hard-drive decided to stop working on me. The Laptop is 3 years old so rather than buy a new Hard-Drive I may as well buy a new Laptop.

I dont do much gaming but I do use some applications that are quite heavy duty so the machine does have to be powerfull enough but im lacking money at the moment so I cant go over €1000. Maybe slightly over if the machine is worth it.

This is what I have found so far:

    Acer Aspire 5633WLMi @ €866.90 inc VAT (Laptopdirect.ie)

    Screen: 15.4" Widescreen TFT (1280x800 - 16:10)with CrystalBrite Technology

    Windows Vista Compatible
    PCMCIA Type II Slot
    5-in-1 Card Reader

    Acer Aspire 5602WLMi @ €1015.69 inc VAT Laptopsdirect.ie

    1024 MB DDRII-533MHz SDRAM120 GB Hard Drive
DVD Dual Layer Drive - To read DVDs and CDs and write CDs, DVD+, DVD- and large Dual Layer DVD
15.4" WXGA Widescreen TFT Screen with CrystalBrite Technology
ATI Radeon X1300 up to 512MB HyperMemory graphics (128MB Dedicated)
Integrated wireless 802.11a/b/g LAN - Call for advice on Wireless networking

Also if anyone knows of any better laptops available or any deals then let me know. I cant live without my laptop!

    Doh :o

I thought they were too good to be true. Dell Laptops are very expensive then by the looks of things.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

Ok I think I might go for this one:

    Acer Aspire 5633WLMi @ €866.90 inc VAT (Laptopdirect.ie)
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 - 1.66GHz (x2), 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache

Hard Drive: 120GB Serial ATA 5400rpm
    Screen: 15.4" Widescreen TFT (1280x800 - 16:10)with CrystalBrite Technology
Optical Drive: DVD±RW Super Multi Double Layer
Graphics: NVidia GeForce Go7300 supporting 256MB TurboCache
Wireless LAN: 802.11a/b/g - Call for advice on Wireless Networking
Warranty: 1 Year - Upgradeable to 3 Years!
Operating System: Windows XP Media Center Edition - FREE Upgrade To Windows Vista
    Windows Vista Compatible
    PCMCIA Type II Slot
    5-in-1 Card Reader
    4 x USB Ports
    Built-In 1.3 MegaPixel Camera

It looks like the best laptop available for the price its at. Does anybody own this laptop and can recommend it?

The one you are thinking of going for looks like the best value for money. It has a Core 2 Duo in it instead of a Core Duo.
