Next lens?

I have a Canon 50mm f/1.8 in the mail to me from Technikdirekt and (as with Mike, I think), I plan to pick up a Sigma 70-300mm later on in the month when I'm in Dublin. So at that point I'll have two portrait, one walkabout and one big lens.

And after that, I'm looking for a wide-angle lens. I want to smash the 18-55mm everytime I use it, mostly from the fact it has no anti-flare coating. The Sigma 10-20mm is overkill (and too expensive, heh) for what I want, as I've really gone off landscape photos. I did really enjoy the room photos I took at Charleville and I hope to do more of the same at some point.

    Suggestions? :]

Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX? Very good performance. Whats the budget?

Cambo took the 70-300 off me today, sorry Fenster.

That's grand, I need to buy some filters when I'm there anyways. :]

My budget will definately be below the 200 euros mark. I already have a Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 and it has great flare coating, but the field of view is way too narrow (ditto my 28mm lens).

Hmmm... probably the only contender at your budget is the Sigma 18-50 3.5-5.6. It's supposed to be better than the Canon kit lens, but I'm not sure if it's that much better.

There's the newish Sigma 17-70, which is a useful range, and is supposed to be a very good performer. It also give you an extra mm at the wide end, which is nice. It does blow your budget a bit though (around €300, though you might fair better from a HK Ebayer)

Cannot recall the price, but sigma do a 20/f1.8

If you like low light, that's a beastie.

my immediate reaction on reading your post was to wait until you've used the lens in the post before deciding what the next one is going to be.

I know you've said it's out of your price range but the Sigma 10-20is a cracking lens.

I take very little landscape with it and it's on the camera most days.

    @ Paudie,

I can arrange a mortgage for that yoke if you're interested
