I was frustrated with the blown sky on this and tried a bit of selective colour. I think the grey metallic feel makes the blow out more natural. Or is that just wishful thinking. Again see the larger version by clicking on the pic. C&C's very welcome. Merci buckets.

EDIT: When I went to edit the post the link got screwed. I've noticed that a lot here lately so clicking will get you nowhere :( It's on Flickr anyway if anyone is interested.

Would've been perfect if the sky looked normal. Try multiple exposures and merging them next time. :]

As it is, it looks great, the selective colours works.

Not sure Danny...I was looking at your other thread before i left work and i was going to relay my thoughts but didnt get the chance. Has the image on the other thread been updated too? It appeared like it had been burned more than what i had remembered. This shot is an excellent capture but now i do feel myslef being drawn to the sky to the detriment of the rest of the scene. This wasnt the first impression i got when i seen the image first so Im not too sure.

I can understand your frustration though, everything else about this makes it an almost perfect shot. I love the colours, the detail on the chairs is excellent and the composition is superb.

Its a tough one Danny, cant really recommend anything unless you cross the divide to digital art and replace the sky altogether

Thanks lads. Fen: This is already a composite of three shots from the RAW file. I didn't have a tripod to take three differently exposed shots :( .

Free: Maybe I should have said nothing about the sky and waited to see how many would comment on it. No I haven't burned anymore but I thought that the grey of the stands would make the grey on the burnt out section more bearable. I mat try another sky but I'm not too clever at selection when it comes to that stuff.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I really prefer the original Danny, sorry!

I wouldn't be so worried about a few blown out clouds when the rest looks smashing!

I though the second was grand, the original is better though.
How did you get the statium empty?

Yeah, that was me running around the pitch on Saturday night. At least I managed to distract the Dubs enough for them to throw away a healthy lead.

You are right Al but you know when something gets stuck in your head.....

    Ah I know!

But it's not even that the clouds let it down, I think they look quite well!

I think it's one of those things where the more you try to disguise it, the more obvious it looks. When I saw the original I never even noticed the clouds being blown out until I read your comment, I was too bust looking at the converging lines and rows of seats. Besides - to me, anyway, it just emphasises how it was such a bright sunny day, and works perfectly well with the light/dark patches on the grass. I'm not so keen on the artificial greyness in the blue sky, it looks nicer in crazy blue :)
