Third down of the wave is awesome, love the sea spray at the very top of the wave!

just nit picking.... In the last image, I think the little photos may be at different levels... ?

The watermark is ok, I don't really like them in general tho'... Would you think of downloading a font that is more surfer? Just an idea! :-)

Proper light for a change is excellent, maybe some face in the first would have been nice, i dunno could be just me, the second is great, IF slightly generic from you at this point, which isn't a bad thing really, the final, its kinda like those comic strip skate board images you see in skate mages, nice idea

These are impressive, I too like number 3. Excellently captured and very clear.
If you are looking for other fonts for watermarking, DaFont is quite good, if you haven't already.

Cheers for the replies, I think you might be right about the sequence shot, but I just threw it together quickly to get an idea of it.

Cheers mele, the next step is to try and swim about a bit more and change my angles, like everyone I'm still learning :)

Class work paudie. I think there is room to burn in some detail in the surfers face. It would add to the drama I think. Very sharp and fabulous colours and light. It certainly looks more exciting than my saunters on a Sunday!

    Paudie

third photo down is astonishing. I love it.

Regarding the watermarks, of the lot of them I prefer the one on the top photograph. It's unobtrusive but unmissable. An achievement.

For the four shot sequence...I'm not such a fan I must concern. I don't know if it's the black background or what, but it's excessively sombre I feel. That being said, I really like the final shot in the sequence as a photograph in its own right.

    thanks.

I must admit to never burning a photo yet, something I really must look into.
I'm sure I'll never be happy with the font, and it seems to depend on the photo whther or not the watermark turns out well.
    I'll keep trying anyway.

    Cheers guys.

This is not the best effort in the world but it might give you a feel for whether it is something you want to do or not. I used the dodge tool in PS. A bigger image would be a smoother job. Hope you dont mind.

Must have a go at the original.

    Super shots indeed.

Not gone on the sequence, too dark and indistinct for me.

Care to share how these are shot, equipment etc.?

Woah, I can imagine the third one with the wave being used in a magazine layout, with the nice blue sky in the space on the left... fabulous. Also a fan of the first, it could be used in the same kind of way actually.

I can't seem to make my mind up about the second with the surfer - I can see that it's sunset so it's not going to be pure bright sunshine and blue sky but it looks slightly awkward somewhere in between a silhouette and looking underexposed a bit. Valentia's idea of dodging the face might give it some more pop (I'm thinking pop would be right for surfing shots?) and a bit of curves/levels tweaking to bring up the white in the foam of the wave too, maybe.

I like the sequence overall, but as others have said it seems a little dark and I'd love to see it just with some levels/burning & dodging to make the silhouettes of the surfer stand out, and maybe stop it from merging into the shoreline in the background, bringing the frothy bits of the water to white.

All of a sudden I'm very conscious of any c&c I'm putting out there just now, somehow ;)

I really like the second and third ones -- the only issue i have is with the watermark , its too big and central , and takes away from the photos imo .
Something smaller , more subtle and less central would be better, but shots themselves are excellent !

Thanks again everybody. Hopefully I'll a few in some magazines over the next few months, I might even have an article in one of them, which will be nice :D

The equipment is this www.splwaterhousings.com, I use the 20D one shown on the first page, I might enter something crazy for the self portrait competition so you can see mine in action :P

As for C&C it's taking me hours to write mine these days, being careful about everyword I'm saying :)

Third great, others forgetable. Watermark still too big.

Have to agree with sinecurea here, not that the watermark is too big but it completely detracts from the images. I know you have been pondering over it for a while but I would definitely not use that font, i would also make it far more translucent or just stick to a border with your copyright on it. If someone is going to be bothered to steal your image then that watermark is no issue to them. It also gives a less than professional feel to the images

I would drop the watermark completely - either that or put it on a text layer in photoshop but reduce the opacity to about 10% so that you can only see it if you are looking for it. The third image is excellent and if it wasnt for that watermark I would be online now selling the 800x500 version to stock agencies. (joking!)

Its great watching the standard of your pics getting just better and better as you are using the camera & waterproof housing more and more!!!
