Well, we knew they were down to play Rock Am Ring/Im Park. They have now gone on to confirm Nova Rock on the 15th of June. Thats good for me anyway, stretching further out into June, makes me more confident they'll be here after the LC. Although Im also slightly pissed at having to miss either of those fests, they some pretty good lineups. Pearl Jam & SP at one festival, how I wish I could be there.

Anyway, yeah, any other Pumpkins tour news, just keep it here. Mods: couldnt find any other thread fully related to Pumpkins so thats why I started this one

P.S really hope there is a web stream of Rock Am Ring again thia year. At least id be prepared for the time difference this year

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah pumpkins pumpkins yeah rock woohoo etcetera

do you think they'll play the new songs they've been working on? if so, rspaa's gonna have ****loads more traffic. i still think they shouldve released the album first, then toured it.

touring with no new material on sale seems like ... well, milking it.

Think the new album is planned for release in April/May.

I have a feeling the Pumpkins will headline Reading/Leeds in August and will play Dublin around then. I dunno, we'll see.

that's good news (album+dublin gig). i pray to god tickets won't sell out, AND they play a non over18s concert.

chances are pretty slim, but i am a boy of faith.

if i do one thing this year and then die, i want it to be to see them. or maybe lose the ol' virginity. whichever, all's good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

They're too big to play a non-arena-size gig, which makes me wonder where it'd be, will the RDS be ready then? If so, that's your venue, so age won't be an issue.

i would actually hope for the opposite

Ive been a huge fan of the pumpkins for years but to be honest, I'd cringe if they were to play over here. None of the venues here that would be big enough to hold the pumpkins have a decent set up. Any venue with a decent setup here is just too small for them.

Personally, Im going to wait and see where they go during the summer in Europe and head mainland!

Intend doing this aswell as the Irish leg. Have to see these guys a few times. If they play Werchter, it'd be very tempting

Does the RDS have good acoustics?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

No. No large venue in Ireland does.

remember that double doors gig they did that was totally secret with only 50 clueless people there? hope they do that, but with mein prior knowldge :)

Well, another tour date announced. 17 June in Switzerland. Please say the dates keep rolling out on that side of the LC for me. Getting a wee bit excited for me.

Maybe hopefully they do a secret show like the Foo's did years ago at the <snip>. Just walk into Tower and find out some day. That'd be very sweet. Then come back again for a bigger show. Lets hope from the next announced tour date, that I can buy tickets for it!

    Album title: Zeitgeist
    Release date : 07.07.07

Woohoo, looking forward to the 7th now. although it'll prob be the 6th over here(the Friday AFAIK). It wouldnt surprise me if they do Marquee at Cork, thats if they dont play any festivals over here. That'd be sweet I think

    EDIT:
    Jun 2 2007 8:00P
    Rock Am Ring Festival Nürburgring
    Jun 3 2007 8:00P
    Rock Im Park Festival Nürnberg
    Jun 9 2007 8:00P
    Lisbon Festival Lisbon
    Jun 15 2007 8:00P
    Nova Rock Festival Nickelsdorf
    Jun 16 2007 8:00P
    Heineken Fetsival Venice
    Jun 17 2007 8:00P
    Greenfields Festival Interlaken

Lisbon and Venice are new. I think it'd be sweet if my 1000th post here could be announcing a Smashing Pumpkins gig in Dublin.

Yeah, Marquee at Cork:D. Then somewhere in Dublin, bigger so more people can see them. And sure what about Belfast. If they dont play England till Reading/Leeds, I'd think they'd play Ireland at that end of the summer. Also, as they playing Lisbon on the 9th, they wont be doing Download then(plus other headliners announced anyway), so Im thinking end of summer Irish date.

Myspace is more up to date for their tour dates

Unfortunately, Iv no idea, but Iv actually being air-drumming to that song for the last week. Its sucha good song

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 104 ✭✭pig on the wing

really? thats just about the only song i EVER air drum to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,658 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Maybe the song is about not liking oneself, in this case Billy not liking himself. "Alone and unhelthy, I never liked me anyway". But then he goes on to say stuff like "my dear delirious" and "if WE should fail, dont be too sad". Oh wait, has to be about a couple. Just hit me there, "siamese twins, at the wrists". Eugh, I dont know, this is going nowhere now.

P.S. Bodies is fun to air-drum to, or Tales of a Scorched Earth

small correction, it's "alone and unHAPPY."

can't ever get anything useful off songmeanings. because only 2% of the comments AREN'T "this song rawks" or "OMG LOL dis song rulZZZ isuifhifhi784590".

as for bodies, it's easily my favourite twilight to starlight track/

Pig on the Wing, am quite sure its unhealthy. Give us a sec and i'll listen too it. Actually its weird now, Im mixed up. Booklet says unhappy, i'll take that then:woops:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 104 ✭✭pig on the wing

the least you deserve for embarassing yourself is a high five...cause we both own siamese dream in physical, srote-bought form. up high!

that was just like that time i saw a human pyramid...it was very, very unnecessary.

Sweet, they're just confirmed for Primavera Sound in Barcelona. Nice surprise since I already have my ticket. :)

Have to say, they look somewhat out of place on the lineup, but still, ****, the Pumpkins? The feeling of actually getting to see them, in whatever shape or form they end up in... it's finally settling in.

Apart from Cochella for Rage and a few Euro festivals for SP any bets on either coming here for a gig/festival?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

To answer your question about RATM, only time will tell. About two weeks ago Tom Morello stated that the Coachella performance was a one-off, but only recently did he insist that Audioslave were not splitting up.

Ive also been hearing very strong rumours of the Pumpkins headlining a major festival in Ireland, even from people within the business.

If its ******, they wont be as two headliners are filled. End of.

Maybe Electric Picnic, hope not though, €200 for camping...steep!

They should their own gig, they'd sell out and would be better for promoters. I'm hoping for end of summer date/s

I know, hence why I said End of.

I can imagine it being Slane, but ya never know. Just gonna have to wait and see

I wish they'd play their own gig instead of that festival, that doesn't exist.......

I heard that rumour back in Summer too.

Also heard that Buckethead (ex-Guns and Roses guitarist, when the only original member remaining was Axl) is going to be touring with them as the second guitarist. Comments or contradictions?

EP is more than 200, they're bumping up the price when they put the tickets back on sale next week. somewhere in the region of 220.

but at the same time, it's an extra day of music, compared with another festival which is only 2 days for 200.
