    hello.
recently i fitted a new lnb to my analogue satellite system.evrything seems fine but i dont have cnbc,i have cnn and international eurosport.the frequencies i had before dont match up to anything that ive got now:
    Eurosport:LNB SELECT:11475 FREQUENCY:12729
    CNN:LNB SELECT:11000 FREQUENCY:12623

when the lnb was working before i had all the channels and i got a list of frequncies from the web and they matched up before but now they dont seem to be matching at all.have i the satellite pointed to a different satellite>?>?thanks in advance for your replies.

I mentioned this before on another thread but I erected a new dish and after completing I found I could not receive some of the Living channels and all Setanta.
This maybe a pure fluke but I remebered reading on the Maplin website saying the LNB (did not come with the dish) needing to be 'offset' by around 24 degrees. I had mounted my quad LNB vertically so I turned it 24 degrees using the graduations on the LNB. Setanta and the Living chanels returned with no effect on the others. It actually increased my signal strength and quality.

I accept this maybe of no help to you but maybe worth investigating?
I don't even understand why the 'offset' was required and how it works!

Analogue satellite is something I'm not overly familiar with, but IIRC, if you have replaced the old LNB (eg 10GHz or "Enhanced") with a Universal LNB, you need to tell the receiver so. Frequencies shift due to a different Local Oscillator freq.

    This link might be helpful.

    What make/model is your receiver?

i dont think it is a universal lnb because i got it from a friend that had analogue but upgraded to digital.the receiver is nokia sat 800 s ird.i am very confused by this as i have searched through all the frequencies and still cant find cnbc.all the other channels that i expect are there including the german channels

Oh, so it's not a new LNB? Just because the LNB you have now was used with Analogue, does not mean it's not universal. Some analogue systems were indeed installed with universal LNB's.

Is it possible to read the label of the LNB you have now, to see if it says anything like "Enhanced" or "LO 10Ghz," or whatever, and see if your old one said the same?

According to SatcoDX, CNBC is still there timesharing with Travelshop on 10.744 Horizontal.

Do you have other Horizontal channels, like KiKa or N24?

Should all LNB's be given this 24degree twist?

You need to change the LO number in the receiver Setup Menu to match the LNB. That is why frequencies are "wrong". 9.75 and 10.0 are common. Are the frequencies 0.25 wrong?

If the LNB is Universal and the receiver supports this then you may need to enter 9.75 and 10.6 as TWO LO settings and 11.7 as the change over between LO 1/Low (tone off) and LO 2/high (22kHz tone on)

all the lnb select frequencies are the same, universal lnb setting was set to no,turned it to yes and searched for cnbc and couldnt get it.could get cnn ok but eurosport was in german and english together.all the german channels are also there when i changed to yes.

The dish I put up is a http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=47163&doy=7m2

I am pretty sure you do not need to offset the LNB on all dishes. It is not required on the standard dish Sky installers usually install.

The SKy LNB twists inside its case.

Almost all satellites need the LNB twisted, the amount changes with position unless you have a polar/motorised mount.

You very slowly twist watching quality meter.

Did you check if the LNB was universal or not as Byte suggested? Do the frequencies displayed by the receiver correspond correctly with the internet listings with universal set to 'yes'?

As for English/German coming through simulataneously on Eurosport, you need to change to the mono audio carrier as I explained in the earlier post.
