Sorry for all these questions, but its not always easy to find the answer in the help guide.

You know the way on windows, when you attached external devices by USB, you have to 'stop' or 'disconnect' the device before removing the usb cable from your pc. Do you have to do the same on a Mac? If so, how do i do it? The ipod is the easy one, as it can be done from itunes.

    Thanks

Just drag the item into the bin (or trash) as they call it! That will disconnect it safely.

If it's an external hd then the eject symbol should be right next to it in the Finder window, just click it. Also you can right-click and choose eject.

Of course if it's just a printer or scanner you can just pull out the cable.

Hope your enjoying the new mac, faceman :)

or right click and "eject" from drop down.
If you dont have a right click on the mouse just CTRL click instead..brings up same menu.
If you just unplug the USB device you will get a warning dialog box.read it.

Sad Professor..Beat me to it :)
