I was looking at the DVB-T box there today to see these new muxes by RTE and I noticed a weak signal on Ch 25. I thought that was the DVB-H transmission but then I saw it was moved to Ch 26 or 27. It went then a bit later. Then 5 minutes ago I tried it again and it got a lock on the channels. It's the BBC multiplex from Caldbeck.:)

Not sure where it is, but I think it's in NW England. BBC1 is also beaming in perfectly on Ch 30 and no transmitter in the north has BBC1 on it.

Anyone else picking up long distance transmissions? I'm going to find out now what other multiplexes I can get. By the way the aerial is a grid aerial, not great for group A, and is the wrong polarisation (vertical). Pretty impressive for a foggy day!!

Nothing here, but I only use a small indoor aerial and would be to far away anyway.

ps. Whilst my digital music stations are working normally at present, there is nothing available on RTE1, 2, TV3 or TG4. Colour bars available on the 6 MUX2 tv channels.

Sometimes fog can help reception. I think you're in a reasonable position to get Caldbeck. It is in North West England, although it's in the "North East and Cumbria" region. If you tune in at 7.49 tonight you should get the Newcastle version of "Look North".

    The other analogue frequencies are 34 for BBC TWO, 28 for ITV 1 Border (England) and 32 for Channel 4. The other digital frequencies are 25 (Mux 1 - BBC), 23 (Mux 2 - ITV/Ch4), 26 (Mux A - five etc), 39 (Mux B), 45 (Mux C), 42 (Mux D)

EDIT: Just checked and if you watch at 2:30, "The Superleague Show" is on - this is a regional programme which is shown in the BBC's three northern England regions. Today it's replacing the build-up to the Ireland Six-Nations match which is showing elsewhere in England as well as NI, Scotland and Wales. This should confirm you're getting Caldbeck analogue. Also, if you can get CEEFAX, try going to p160

BowWow, what receiver do you have? I just tried the six MUX2 channels but they are all encrypted, according to my Wharedale box (a key symbol beside them and then it says 'Scrambled Channel').
Can you still see the color bars on MUX 2?

I'm using the inbuilt tuner in 37" Samsung. Just checked all stations again. Nothing on any of them, no tv, no radio, no colour bars. 20 mins ago I had radio and bars on Mux 2.

No problems - it's good news you saw the color bars, even - it may be that those stations will eventually be viewable to all but are in some sort of internal test/configuration phase at the moment. (says he hopefully).

I've did a rescan again today.... I can see all the colour bars on Mux 2. Nothing on Mux 3. Still using the Matsui.

The MUX 1 reception lasted for about 10 minutes. It's gone now. I was watching Countryfile this morning but it was very poor from Kilkeel (could barely make out faces and shapes) so I watched it on the other BBC1 channel though it faded in and out fairly often. The BBC1 analogue channel has gone now completely. I was able to get ITV on Ch 28 and Channel 4 on Ch 32 aswell.

I knew it was Caldbeck as the multiplex was called BBC Caldbeck. The announcements on bbc 1 were "This is the BBC from the north of England" and yes the superleague rugby was on when the Ireland V Wales match came on.

As for the Mux 2 Channel, I'm not sure what this colour bars thing is about but I was able to listen to the radio stations in Mux 2. Radio 1 to 3 was broadcasting RTÉ radio 1. Radio 4 was 2fm, radio 5 was RnG and radio 6 was Lyric FM.

Yes it's Caldbeck in the north of Cumbria near the Scottish border that you're up. For more info see: http://www.ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=NY299425
