Hello, just wondering if anyone is commuting from Kilkenny to Dublin and how you're finding it?My fiance has been offered a post in Kilkenny (we're both feckless civil servants currently on career break) and the chances are I'd have to return to Dublin.I'm down for decentralisation to somewhere in the south-east but I'm a long way down the list so I don't know how long I'd have to do the commuting for.Is it doable-or if not,how long do you preserve your sanity for?Could stay at home with my folks at least one night a week, but don't want to move home on a semi-permanent basis! Thanks!

70 mile journey return each day( to Dublin city centre I presume?) you'll need a very economical car first off!Anecdotely I hear of a lot from commuting from KK, but I would say it's much more common place from place in the neighbouring counties like Laois, S Kildare, Carlow as theryre closer to the city.. Could you live in Carlow, Athy or Portlaoise to make things a bit easier? Then you'd both have to commute I suppose.
Places like Castlecomer and Paulstown have quite a few commuters I hear too. Could you get the train every morning?
The road to Dublin is so a big drawback, though come 2010 it'll be replaced all going well with motorway all the way.
