Ok the girfreind got herself an mp3 player ages ago and i put all my stuff from my zen onto it, i then lost everything on my zen, i got 99% of it back from freinds but there are a few albums on her sony mp3 that i need back.

However i went into sonicstage and it tells me i cant take files off the mp3 unless i have them in the first place:mad: Now this is somthing i cannot see any ****ing logic in, if i allready had the files on the computer i wouldnt see the need for transfer.

Anyway getting away from that rant can someone out there please, and im begging you here either tell me a way to get music of the sony mp3 to my hard drive or tell me a program that allows this to happen as im this close to deleting sonicstage.

O yea also i heard that its the same malarky with the ipod and itunes, anyone know about this cause itd put my right off buying an ipod next week.

There's loads of 3rd party software available for transferring music from iPods, however I haven't had much experience with them and don't know what's good. I assume there's similar stuff available for Walkmans...?
Is it not obvious why they try and make it hard to copy music off these things? Have you not heard of copyrights or piracy?

Obviously i have, but you dont see creative mucking people about like this, i mean i cant afford to keep all my music on my pc so i transfer it to my mp3 player, all my cds are upstairs somewhere gathering dust so if i wanna hear somthing loud im just gonna take some stuff back of my mp3, I cant find the cds that i want and there on me girlfreinds mp3 so i thought id just get em back of her but god what a pain in the arse i must say.

LOL, when it comes to their HDD players Creative are even worse! With the Zen Vision Ms you can't do nowt with it unless you have Windows XP (there's absolutely no reason why such software wouldn't work on 2k) *and* you install their software. I found absolutely no 3rd party software for doing anything with these players, unlike with the iPod where software is plentiful.

You can get a 320GB hard disk for under €100 these days ;)

bottom line we're all being raped by the riaa, the ipod idiots are oblivious, but there you have it, I reckon back archos all the way

Yea but the difference i have no problem working with creative media source cause it actually works, its no problem to get **** back and forth from it.

Still though its a kick in the arse if you have 2000, but 99% of people have xp theese days i mean cmon, vista is out now, get with the times.

I'd say more like less than 30%, tbh. There's still millions of people in the world still using Windows 98. On my PC in question, there is absolutely no need to install XP over 2k, as the benefits would be minimal for what it is used for. Only when I tried installing the Vision:M software for a friend's player (who was away from home at the time, hence no PC of her own), did I come across said annoyance.

Dunno about you, but I wouldn't trust Vista for another year or two (they're allegedly already working on SP1 for it  ). And the talks about the hideous DRM in that is quite off-putting...
