IT Manager position : 35k (Hu?)

    You answer the phone
    You design the company website
    You do Data Mining
    You do IT budget
You do VPN, Server Admin, Backup
    You write daily/weekly/monthly reports
    You do Help Desk support
You do care of the PABX and handsets
You do care of the SAP Database and application
You do train the users on software and Hardware
    You manage the firewall
    You have to be MCSE

And eventually you clean the carpet and bathroom after 7pm once everybody is gone (Ok joke this one)

I have never seen such a job offer. Well done to the guy who wrote it.

    Anyone lol ?
    Scandalous

It doesn't mention the salary in the description from what I could see. The 35000-45000 thing is usually bull****

An idiot recruitment agent wrote it.

He/she is obviously hyping up a general IT position and giving it an imaginary "IT manager" title.

    Usual agency tripe.

A lot of IT managers wouldn't be capable of the above;) I know mine wouldn't!

Firstly a droid in the agency most likely rehashed the spec. that was given from the company... probably added 5K to the max salary to attract some fools and tried to add a few bells, such as the classic "Exceptional package is on offer for the right motivated career oriented IT professional.". I'm convined agencies have their own version of design patterns - informally known as bullsh1t patterns.

    Anyway, that aside:
Yes I have seen jobs advertised like this. There was a time when IT Manager invoked a certain idea in ones mind, not necessarily a complementary image mind, but manager as in management and how the fcuk did that idiot...

What I now see is company has computers, needs someone to look after them - (and any other strange pseudo-IT thing that is thrown into the mix), its IT and it needs to be minded - hence IT minder (sorry Manager). I actually saw a 23K version on FAS <surprise=false> once.

I think its just a b*stardisation of the terminology...

as far as I can tell they just got the title wrong, if they call it IT support or something it would be better, but most people would be happier to have IT manager on their CV than anything else. In a company that has one person doing it they can call it anything they want, I wouldn't be surprised if it is the correct title in the company though. Maybe they will stick a 'systems' before the manager.

Besides the title it seems to give a clear enough run down of the role and the salary so whats the problem?

Sounds roughly what I do, for small business, with a small IT department, the IT Manager will cover lots of different stuff.

No harm in being well rounded ;)

Pretty much what exactly what I was thinking. It doesn't look that unusual for a small company tbh.

Desktop Support Engineer is a bastardisation of the terminology. This one isn't that bad really, at least the word manager doesn't imply competency or anything.. :p
