Cant get sound from Xbox360 on HD tv

    I hooked up my xbox 360 to a HD philips TV and i cant seem to get sound though i get picture... I have the cable turned to HDTV. Do i need a different cable or something.. The xbox will work on the other Tv that aint HD.

    do u have the red and white sound cables hooked up....these are the cables u use with a normal tv

    Sure do have all wired up.. the only one missing is the yellow but the manuel tells me to leave these out.. I do believe there is another cable called Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable do you know anything about this my tv works fine and the sound is working on channels.. It has me puzzled

    Chances are you have the red and white connections into wrong audio connection. Alot of TV's would have more than one.

    Hi Ciaran, nah i have a surround sound hooked up as well and it works there is 5 ways of connectin up and have try all them still doesnt work i am thinkin of buying the other cable and see does it make any differnce. the other cable is a 15 pin plug with two audio connection and it uses the HDML connection thou i done know much about it

    That other cable will give you the exact same audio output options. Why don't you hook the 360 into the surround sound instead of the TV?

    Tried this with the white and red one into the audio of the surround sound and still no output.... Is there anything in the system hardware of the xbox i need to change..

    im having the same problem as this. dont think that vga hd cable will make a difference as it connects to a monitor or a tv with a pc connection. the red, green and blue connections on the original xbox 360 cable are the ones you are supposed to use but as i said its not working for me either. has anyone got the hd working??

    yup I have a 32" samsung and it works fine. It takes 5 cables though not just the red green and blue, you also need the red and white audio cables.

    To the OP, does the sound work using the composite input on your TV?
