Can you purchase single train ticket from Maynooth to Connolly station a couple of hours in advance or is it only valid for 90 mins like it is on the luas

Train tickets are valid for the day printed on them.

You can buy up to 3 months in advance by specifying the date of travel. For suburban tickets both the outward and return portion must be used same day, otherwise the trip out must be the valid from date and the return any day up to and including the valid to date
