You could check out Refurbished section from Apple.ie/store. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and you should find Refurb store with some sweet iPod deals.

Is it obvious that a refurb is not new? Would it be noticeable, because I don't wanna be seen as a cheap skate by the missus, would never liver it down! Cheers

As far as I know you wouldn't know the difference ...

They'd have to let you know if there is any scratches or whatever on it

Also you should have your normal warranty with it ? .. so :) go for it

I worked in the states for a while and bought a refurb Sony Walkman and Car stereo. Apart from the lack of packaging (they came in a brown box, no fancy glossy box) it was not possible to tell they were not brand new.

Similarly my brother got a reburd iPod from apple last summer, same story. It looked new when he got it.

Given that they come with a 1 year warranty, it's better value than buying an almost new second hand unit from someone. And if you can live without whatever packaging they come with over the counter, you should not notice any difference.

The original prices listed are a bit misleading as they're the prices before the new models came out. Like the 4GB Nano is listed as €260 original price but these days you get an 8GB gen2 for €260. Still good deals though I reckon.
