I'm planning a trip to Budapest in the next month. Will there be snow? Any advise, on accommodation, sights, activities, restaurants?

    Cheers!

    having been to budapest
my advice would be go somewhere else instead , the overwhelming feeling i got about the place was how unfriendly the people are
they are thee most unfriendly people ive ever met in any country
its not that thier rude , thier not , thier just not warm people
i asked someone about this , i was told their a germanic people

as for the city itself , well it rained the whole time i was there but the architecture is nice , but having been to barcelona , its not a patch on it

my advice to anyone planning a trip to eastern europe would be to check out prague
my advice to someone planning a european break would be , check out barcelona , its my favourite city
beautifull buildings , great climate , nice breeze at all times , beautifull women and of course spanish people are renowned for thier friendliness and warmth

Wow Bob I couldn't disagree with you more.Absolutely loved Budapest and would go back in a heartbeat.Couldn't have found a nicer bunch of people either, have to say I thought everyone I came across was really friendly. It's a beautiful city with so much to do a some great restaurants.Prague, while visually beautiful is a bit of a kip and dodgey, granted it's a good few years since I was there but would have no interest in going back.Thought the people were very ignorant too.Different strokes for different folks I guess.

To the original poster, don't know about snow you will have to check the weather sooner. We stayed in the Art hotel and I couldn't recommend it higher. It's on the Buda side of the city and isn't to far of a walk to Pest.Go up around the castle district its very nice but is very expensive compared to the rest of the city.Take a trip out to the Statue park its a great tour. It's where all the old communist statues are kept. Also go to the terror museum,it's very morbid and bleak but very interesting all the same.Restaurants, now you will have no shortage of choice, there is something for everybody and isn't mad expensive either. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for your response guys. I'd a great trip. It is a really beautiful city, building and bridges are spectacular.

We stayed in a apartment (only €40/night) right in the heart of the city: budapestlets.com. It was of a very high standard.

The thermal baths were probably the best part. It was amazing to be outside (weather was about the same as here) in the hot baths. Public transport is also great, trams, metro every two minutes to anywhere (puts Dublin to shame!)

It was my first time to Eastern Europe and most definitely wasn't the backward/poor city I was expecting. Restaurants were amazing, not cheap, not expensive, but great food. People were quite friendly.

    I'd definitley recommend it.
