Hamachi Alternative

I've always been a great proponent of Hamachi. It works perfectly. But for some reason its not too great with wireless connections. It's probably something to do with the added latency of the wireless + encryption + hamachi servers [even on the premium evaluation].

Are there similar products out there that don't cost an arm and a leg? Essentially I want to store a web based app on one PC and allow a remote PC to connect to it (without pricking about with opening router ports etc etc).

http://crossloop.com/ was mentioned on "security now" a show ago. Never used hamachi or crossloop so don't know too much about either

    What about www.logmein.com?

I use Hamachi regularly on wireless connections, for games, and have not experienced any problems whatsoever even in prolonged sessions - before you switch over, you'd want to ensure it is Hamachi itself and not some other factor causing the trouble

Don't want the overhead. Ideally just by IP address.

HavoK would Norton have anything to do with it I wonder? (****ing thing)
