Hi all Just bought a new house and 3 rooms have tv sockets already installed! 2 bedrooms and sitting room! I had sky installed and I want to send it to the bedroom without running a new cable to it. My question is can I send the signal from rf 2 into the wall socket up into the attic and then join the cable in the attic and then plug a sky eye into the tv socket in the bedroom? The 3 original cables are in the attic and I have joined them and tried without success so far.
    pls help...

To use magic eye run 1 cable from rf2 to tv upstairs,i think it needs 1 continous cable to carry remote signal.IF you split cable ,magic eye wont work.YOU can buy wireless sky compatible ,video sender/remote entender 60euro argos.YOU could connect rf1 to cables going to attic upstairs ,this will show whatever channel is on sky box, on uhf frequency.attach skybox to tv 1 downstairs, thru scart going to tv av1,scart 1.IF you used magic eye, plus a video sender it would be possible to watch, sky ,change chanel on 3tvs,including tv beside the skybox.AND send rf feeds thru coax to another 2 tvs.Get fta skybox for free channels upstairs too ,if you wish.60euro on adverts .ie.Theres free kids, pop music channels, rapture etc. Make sure and turn on parental control pin in services menu.

I have the exact setup that you are looking for in my house, unfortunately it was a few years ago that I set it up so I can't remember the exact details but here's what I do remember:

Make sure you turn power on for RF2 socket on your sky box.

Rf2 from Sky box goes into wall socket in living room and up to attic.

Splitter in attic that splits signal and connects to cables feeding 2 other TV sockets in bedroom and playroom, make sure you get a splitter that allows the remote signal from magic eye to pass through, something like this:

    http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page15a.htm#skysplit

Magic eye connected to TV socket in bedroom and another in playroom and two extra remotes for using in those rooms.

Finally as far as I remember I had to actually change the TV wall socket in each of the three rooms and this is where my memory isn't so good but there was some issue that the type of socket fitted by the builder didn't allow remote signal coming from the magic eye to pass through and I had to change to one that did.

Also depending on distances involved you might need the splitter in attic to include an amplifier, something like this:

    http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page15.htm#ampsplits

If you want to see where problem is I suggest you try out bit by bit, so

    1. Take TV sockets out of the equation and put magic eye directly onto cable coming out of RF2 and make sure light comes on, cover remote detector on sky box to make sure remote signal can't go directly to it then check to see if remote pointed at magic eye works

    2. If this works put rf2 into TV wall socket and connect magic eye to other end of cable in attic and see if it still works.

    3. If this works connect 2 cables together in attic directly (no splitter) and check magic eye works in bedroom with cable connected.

    and so on,

this should tell you where problem is occuring, this is how I figured out there was an issue with TV wall sockets.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks webbie
Yeah that's exactly what I'm trying to do. My problem is I can't get the power to go into the main socket in the sitting room and up into the attic I reckon the tv sockets can't take power in if you know what I mean? I might have to change them. I have the sky eye already and the power on rf2 is on at the back of the box. But won't go any further?

    Quick fix..
Remove wall socket, unscrew chasses from inside leaving you with a plate with just a hole in the middle.
Put cable in the wall through the hole and rescrew plate to flush box.
Now conect directly to rf2 or if not long enough extend using plugs and couplers.
Do the same now in the room that is to recieve the eye and ye should be fine:)

for magic eye to work, the coax cables, need to be properly connected, all the way, shielding ,must not touch,rf core.coax metal, caps must,be tight.you may need to install, new cable to use magic eye,or else buy video /sky sender remote extender 60euro .needs no wires or coax, transmits sky tv picture signal and channel change commands wirelessly thru the house.

You need to make sure that the coax wall sockets your using do not have a small circuit board on them. These circuit boards have resistors that filter out the 9v signal which prevent the magic eye from working. You need to get wall sockets without circuit boards, I had to search around a bit when I was getting them for my new house some hardware/Electrical Wholsesalers don't stock them so be careful.:)

Would you not consider using one of those Videosenders, something like this (http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=30001&langId=-1&catalogId=10751&productId=746130&Trail=C%24cip%3D51450.Sound%2Band%2Bvision%3EC%24cip%3D51457.Accessories%2Band%2Bbatteries%3EC%24cip%3D51464.TV%2Band%2Bvideo%2Bsenders&categoryId=51464&clickfrom=name), although these are not the ones I use they work on the same principle. There is no need for cabling, you just plug the transmitter into the Sky Box and then connect the recivers to whatever number of TV's you want to use(1 receiver per TV). I use one of these and it works very well, no need for cables and you can use the remote control with them.

But can you have multiple receivers off one transmitter? IMO I think good old fashioned cabling is the best way to go. ESPECIALLY if the cable are already run

Thanks for al the replies the sockets do have little pcb's on them! I'll see can I find some without. I seen the video senders but was told the signal isn't 100% especially when sending through more than 1 wall. And the cables are already there so might aswell use them. I'll see how I get on!
