Is the arse falling out of the IT industry?

    Is this the start of a scary trend for the IT industry in Ireland? Motorola, FCI, Thompson Scientific , Vodafone ... Are we on facing the same crash similar to 2000?

    According to statistics, there are much more vacancies in the IT sector now then ever, roughly 14k, which is much higher then it previously has been.

    I don't think it's heading on a crash course exactly though, it just needs some revitalisation.

    Thats true, but what proportion of those jobs are either a) low paying tech support jobs or b) requires highly skilled workers in a specific area require a vast amount of years in experience.

    I think the construction and finance sectors are stealing the limelight now for highly paid salaries, steering students away from IT. Also the press IT is receiving certainly wont encourage students to apply for IT/Engineering degrees.
