Interesting test here in light of the recent discussions on Immigration.

I was told that I have a Slight Automatic preference for White People compared to Black People.

I guess if I'm honest then that is probably true.

Am I evil?

oh I got a moderate automatic preference for Black People compared to White People.

I've always thought that we're all innately racist or xenophobic to some degree. But we should have the intellect to rise above it.

Humans always make automatic judgements about people we met. We do this all the time, from the manner and demeanour of a person, to how they dress and speak, to how they look.

It would be silly to say that its ok to have these reactions over things like dress, but not over skin colour or gender. Our sub-conscious doesn't really work like that, we can't pick and choose what we sub-consciously make assessments on.

The issue isn't really if we have these gut reactions.

The issue, and what makes one racists, is if we fail to realise that these reactions are not rational conclusions, and act as if they were.

Slight preferance for black people compared to white too, strange. I am half-caste and I guess I consider myself more black than white, so its probably acurate. Still not totally convinced by the methods though. If there had been asians in the mix my preferance could have lay there you never know.

Do the Asian one, it's below the black/ white one. Im asian too, got "strong automatic preference Asian British compared to White British" I don't even remember getting many wrong. <paranoid> I don't think I'm any way racist, but then, how would I know?</paranoid>

As others have said, that isn't so much a mark of racism at all

Hmm, got the same myself. I thought I would've gotten more preference towards white people, but hey, I was pleasantly suprised.

I already know I'm racist so I won't bother with the test. I'm a good racist though, not a nutcase like the KKK or something.

It's not about getting them right or wrong it's about your reaction time. Are you faster to put a negative word next to a black person than to a white person for instance.

I understand. But I remain sceptical about having any real "gut instinct" racial prejudices, or at least whether that can be assessed by measuring one's reaction time as oposed to self-knowledge.
In the 'white British' test for example, many of the names were those of ex-British monarchs. Maybe I just have an aversion to members of the royal family?!

i dont usually regard as racist. more so "PC impared".

seriously. i regard racism to be counter productive. if one hires a white person over a black person but the black person is more qualified, the business is less productive, ie makes less profit.

I did the one about homosexuals/hetrosexuals and got no automatic preference for either homosexuals/hetrosexuals. I just had to know.
