NCT emissions fail

I got a 96 Toyota MR2 turbo, jap import. Failed the NCT on lambda emissions.
The reading was 1.07 and the limit is 1.03
Total pain as no mechanic near Sligo wants to go near a jap MR2.
I'm going to chance the retest. Firstly I will put some fuel system cleaner in it and run that through. Then I'm going to put some STP Power Booster in the next tank of petrol. Supposedly this will reduce emissions, right ??
My main question is, should I put the car in to the test while I have the STP booster in the petrol ??
Or should I run that tank through first ?

    thanks in advance.

    Brian
