There lovely pieces of kit to be honest, highly recommended to anyone that needs alot of storage.

Have one of the older models (USB2 only) on 24/7 since this time last year and no problems what so ever :)

Is that yourself that gave the review on komplett?

nope, though I can see why you'd think that :)

    Cool.
I'll probably go for the new one. I'm hoping to get my hands on a High Def Camcorder in the near future, so I'll need the space for storage!:D
Probably won't last pissing time though!

Harvey Norman (Naas) has stacks of 500GB external iomega drives for 179 euro. Internally they are Seagate 7200.10 IDE drives with 8MB cache. The Seagate 5-yr warranty does not apply to external drives, so it might be wiser to get a 500GB on Komplett for 149 euro and a case for about 35 euro. That way if you drop it in the next 5 years maybe it is still covered ;)

    Bastards!
Making a fool out of me!;)

Don't remember seeing that when I checked yesterday morning. Considering the fact its out of stock, I'm gonna say they saw komplett's offer, and decided to get a few in and undercut them.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!:p

It's a pity if these are already sold out. I got a 320GB version a year ago. Not a single complaint. Have it running all the time and it's never let me down. That and it looks good.

Yeah the WD Mybooks are great little drives, I got a 250GB Firewire one before Christmas and it's worked perfectly. I'll probably pick up another in a few months.

Does anyone know if the drives within the My Books are IDE or SATA?

    It is what it's.

Work ordered one for me last week and it was €202 ex vat + delivery from komplett, so the €222 incl vat offer is a genuine sale price alright.
