Can anyone tell me what my nest move is: My skydish is 3 yrs old and has rotted and rusted - there is no signal
will sky replace the dish or do i have to pay for a new one.

Regardless of whether it's Sky you call or an Independant retailer, you'll need to pay.

However, you could ring Sky, they'll tell you it'll be X amount, you say that's not good enough and will cancel. Sometimes, they will agree to have it fixed for free to save the loss of a subscriber!

anyone any ideas if these can be picked up second hand or will i have to pay the €180 + €60(service call) sky offered me -

I tried the bluff of losing a customer but they didn't bite.

Ring an independant local satellite or tv aerial person, you should find loads in local newspapers ect..They'll sort you out, be quicker than sky and certainly wont charge you the €180 + €60 service charge.

Ring up Sky and complain; they will then offer you the standard Call-out for €100 or whatever it is, tell them that is extortionist and you are not willing to pay. Threaten to cancel and they will say fine; they will but you through to cancelling and you will be asked for a reason as to why you are cancelling; tell them the reason is Sky's refusal to fix the set-up despite you being a loyal customer who has paid up to date for the last X amount of years.

You will then get a free call out believe me; also if you could swap the digibox for a faulty one to milk the thing right, a quick scavenge around your Waste Transfer Station Electrical Recycling will provide what you need. Sky are desperate to meet internal targets of new customers and losing one over a dish and box is not worth it to them. Call their bluff or perhaps you might like to swell the pockets of Mr. Murdoch some more maybe?

Same story here (Sligo)

Have only lost Setanta so far.

Dish very rusty.

Contacted installer and was asked if there were trees near-by, which there are. But they were always there!.

I believe trees may be part of the problem, but I guess a new dish would sort it out.

Would it be possible to get a larger dish while I'm at it?
And would this counteract the fact that the signal is being compromised by the trees?
