An experimental sticky, this. We'll see how it goes...

    http://www.shootingwiki.org

Some of you have seen Wikipedia before; this is a wiki site just for shooting. Take a peek. Add some stuff. Edit more stuff. Generally help out. All disciplines of target shooting, from ISSF to IDPA, from Sporting to Trap, from F-Class to 10m Air Pistol, are being sought to contribute.

I never really got into WIKI there was something about it that
I just did not like probably where anyone can go messing about with stuff
you put in etc or a bit too chaotic for me.

While were on the subject of websites
It would be great if we could have a central place where there were
links to all the Irish shooting related websites.
it may encouage the people who maintain them to keep them upto date.

It was nice to see fermoy rifle club get a bit of an update,

I cant believe that with all the fantastic facilities that
midlands have they the website could not be given fresh information.

Even the NRAI website most of its links are inactive/dead/not working or
just plain text and no link at all.

The ones uptodate seem to be the college clubs etc.

I know for myself starting off in the sport it was important for me
to get as much info as I could and it was mostly through this board where
I got links reading posts etc.

From a newbie point of view I would love to see an FAQ/Terminology/
techniques or lessons/Pics/Diagrams/videos with demonstrations/links to
open source ballistics software/maybe poeple past experiances or stories/
all things safety etc. Maybe a run down on the (basic) Costs of someone starting
the sport. The most popular rounds and their application and properties.

That's not what it says on the front page.

I know, but that's being changed as soon as the guy running the site gets time:

Good idea, but why restrict yourself to ISSF disciplines?
We have started a similar project 2 years ago in german: http://wiki.waffen-online.de/index.php/Hauptseite

And a friend and I have just started a wiki based project on www.enfieldcollector.net
I will start uploading some content next week. We also want to include a section that focuses on the history of civilian shooting in central London. We have seen everything the national archives have on that topic, but could need some contributions from older shooters that renember the various ranges and clubs in London.
Actually its not really restricted we do have some stuff of "America" Bull’s-eye, and hope to have stuff on Field Target and IPSC as well as others. But i have take the hint and removed the word "limited"

I have a spare domain thats not doing anything a the moment. It was for a project that was cancelled at the last minute.

I also run one of the 'college clubs' websites - www.tcd.ie/Clubs/rifle

If I get the time, I will knock up something. However I would need people in various dicicplines to contribute and to spread the word.
