Anybody got any tips for photo locations in Cork?

In particular I'm looking for some high up place to get a good shot out over the city. I've been checking out tops of car parks and the like but not found anything too great so far.

Shandon... or the top of Patricks Hill. Into Bruce college car park if you can. Other than that, there are a few good spots in Sundays Well..

i assume you're talking about cork city then, not the county?

    Hi Rymus
Thanks for your suggestions – I’ve been up Sundays well, I will check out your other spots. Shame that St Anns in Shandon isn’t open early or late. What I’m really after is sunrise/sunset panoramic shots over the city.

    Hi Magic
Well I’d be grateful for any good tips for County Cork although anywhere West Cork can’t be bad!
Lough Hyne & Beara peninsula are pretty cool

i'm not from cork, but i was able to get some nice shots down around barleycove a few years ago; got the following on stony beach, which is about 100 yards from barleycove campsite:

The flat green at the top of Richmond Hill (or top of St Patricks) has a nice view west over the brewery, North Cathedral, convent and to County Hall - morning is good for front lighting, a low mist can be good.

There is a little terrace off St Lukes church with a broad view south. Further up Glanmire Road Middle up to Cope Foundation there are occasional views over the station and docks. The Youghal Old Road has views North over the Glen. You could walk back that way to St Patricks and there are some views from the top of Military Hill / Military Road.

In the centre the multistory carparks on Grand Parade and Merchants Quay are high enough and have an open top floor, with wire safety mesh and pointy pigeon deterrents, but plenty of room for a lens. Queens Castle up on Barrack Street has a good view onto North Main Street (that's where the gun-ports point) but its closed for regeneration, "due to be completed in late 2003". Walk round the back to St Finbarr's.

UCC's Kane Building has glazed views East and West from the corridor windows.

Up Sundays Well looks onto the Mardyke, UCC and hospitals.
