Lastmile broadband users?

If you have no other option at all, then go with lastmile. The 512K Down 128K Up service at 37.99 per month works quite well but is bad value compared to any DSL offering.

I've been a lastmile customer for over 18 months. I really feel like they are gouging the last penny out of their customers who have no alternative broadband provider available. I've just ordered the Vodafone Broadband card, and if it works as I hope it will then its goodbye lastmile for me.

If you're going for the vodafone broadband you're clearly not a gamer. Dcully is only interested in low latency gaming. Maybe run a few ping tests for him?

OT: Dcully, did you used to play Day Of Defeat?

Yeah i used to play DOD all the time.

I contacted lastmile and they say my area is not covered despite broadband.gov coverage map stating otherwise.

How is it for gaming? its not great i play dod ( AWOL clan uk server ) and my ping is between 75 to 130 but most times it stays around 90 to 100, sometimes i have to leave because i lag out the server.
Not fussed about dload speeds. dl speed various between 54 kbps to 15 kbps

if you want me to do a ping test just let me know how to do it.

Try Leinster Broadband, they serve most of Kildare

I've done quite a bit of research on lastmile broadband who are the only operator I can get coverage with. You can check their mast locations on their site and see if you'll have line of sight but the pings won't be suitable for online gaming from every review I've ever read of them. Not suitable for VOIP either.

Here's the results from a ping test i just did to jolt.co.uk from my lastmile connection. Not too bad actually.

Pinging jolt.co.uk [82.133.85.65] with 32 bytes of data:

    General failure.

How far are you from the mast though?

And which mast are you on?

I'm guessing it fluctuates depending on number of users on the mast. Either that or service has improved because everything I read before was negative about the company and its service.

Could it be that the number of users on their service has declined as users in towns switch to other operators or something like that? Not sure how that would effect it.

I'm on the Ardagh Mountain mast in Longford. The service used to be pure sh!te but about a month ago improved immeasurably. I now consistently get a 512KB down speed and the ping times you saw above.

    Regards

I have been trying to get a response from them via Email and tried calling the last few days. Just a sales enquiry about south Leitrim. The phone number on the site isnt working, although I am calling from the US. Does anyone have any specific emails or telephone number, not info@ or sales@

    Thanks
