Won't get to write a proper report just yet but spirits I encountered in charleville castle were, A Nun, A priest, a small boy, a young girl, three men, a nanny or nanny like figure, an old lady. A group of spirits who seem to watch the coming and going of the place. the young girl I will leave dibs to tell about. Of course and the man in the celler. Most scary part of the castle would be for me anyway was the Third Floor:eek: . Nicest part of the castle was the ball room and the fridge.

Before I get into posting pictures, talking about the night and saying how great everyone was I have to first say a big thanks to Graham for everything ...including the lift ;) I think we can all say he did a great job his first time co-leading a trip.

I haven't really gone through the photos but I'll throw up some anyway.

Nice shot, and it really catches the mood of that particular spot.

Well I took another couple of shots at that time and one of them has something in it. I'm pulling it apart at the moment.

It was just myself, Graham and Gavin up there at the time.

    Gasp! That's my torch!

Good to see the Amulet of Denderah makes an appearance in the group photo.

Should I be excited? Is it a 'shunkey'?

I'm glad you spell it with an 'e' otherwise Urban Dictionary would confuse people! ... If it was a shunkey I'd be selling the photo to Discovery Channel.

Are you sure that's them all, you didn't forget any ? :)

Sounds like a very interesting trip was had by all, great stuff. I'll look forward to hearing more detailed reports, and seeing some of these pictures being alluded to. I'm especially intrigued by these alleged sightings of a shunkey ...

    Ok guys here's my tuppence!!

Many thanks to Mark and Co for organising a brilliant trip and arranging a great night for everyone. Also thanks to Stoner for the lift down and back (especially back when everyone, Stoner included just wanted to be in their bed!). It was much appreciated. Extra special thanks go to Kim for the experience in the Ballroom. It really was an eye opener.

Glad I got to meet everyone there and put some faces to the names at the start.

The highlights for me were being on the stairs with Mark & Co when there were a good few spirits following us about. I really couldn't "see" anything at the start and found it a little frustrating that a lot of people were reporting the same things and I wasn't seeing anything. After a while I started to see vaguely misty shapes on the stairs which matched up with what the more sensitive people were reporting. It was a great experience. Apologies for shushing some people but I swore I could hear noises and was straining to hear.

The best experience of the night for me was when we split into groups for the glass tipping. Kim and myself went to the ballroom where we were joined by Harriet, the little girl that fell from the stairs. We invited her to help us move the glass and tried to make a game of it to see if that would appeal to her childish nature. We got a very small bit of movement but the interesting thing was that Kim told me that she thought Harriet had a little crush on me and that she was holding my hand(which was ice cold compared to my other hand) and trying to snuggle up to me. It was an amazing experience as I honestly felt her presence and felt her holding my hand. When I said that I felt the cold on my wrist, Kim said that she saw Harriet snuggling up against my arm which would account for the cold spot travelling to that point.

All in all I had a blast and was privileged to meet all of you sound folks. I look forward to the next trip! Here are some of the photos I took on the night.

Yeah have to say it was a great trip, the castle was a lot nicer than I expected it to be, it's huge. Thanks to Pantless and 6th for organising it all, great job lads.
I found the whole place very cool, I'd like to buy it, I wonder how much it would cost???? The heating bill might be high though, I might have to sell my DVD collection to raise the cash.
Great job on all the photos everyone, I only took about 5 myself.
The only freaky place for me was the red room, but I think I just don’t like strangely shaped rooms (like the bog in Ross)
dib no probs on the lift, got your text but I was unsure who it was from and I'm not talking to monkeyfudge at the moment we had an argument about a shunkey on the way home. You are a great man for the directions; this was handy as it seems that Stromtrooper and his mother have no Idea where they actually live apart from the fact that it is near a bridge.
Over all for me it is a great spot, thanks to Kshiel for the spare pillow, made a big difference to the two hours sleep I got, and to Lou for the double decker (it’s a chocolate bar 6th). Dib have you any pictures of the “experience” you and Kshiels shared in the long room, we’d all like to see them?.
Finally well done everyone for not eating so much crap, we all did very well even 6th, due to this I have little or no content for our eating adventures apart from the fact that Stromtrooper ate two boxes of cakes by himself. One word of advice though DON'T go to the chipper in the town (well the old one anyway), Monkeyfudge was right, but we never listened to him, I don’t know why, I think he is just generally lacking in character and inspires little confidence in people he also tells huge lies and makes things up, I took him more seriously when he was wearing the Amulet of Denderah though, I think you should put it on for any negotiations you take part in from now on Monkeyfudge, it could swing it for you.
I ended up with mankey frozen chips and horrible chicken, I thought the breast box policy in the chipper in Ross was bad (i.e. giving you two non breast bits by default and charging you for each upgrade) but this place charged for the upgrade and still gives you the crappy bits, at least my chicken got the fire going better then the firelighters, it burned longer than a tire.
BTW monkeyfudge I checked out this shunkey thing you were talking about, it’s a lie there is no such animal or fish or fisimal, fisimals don’t exist either you spoofer. I did a Google images search for it and all it returned was a gravestone and some pics of Americans.
Finally I almost forgot thank you so much 6th for finding my keys, I would have been lost without them.
When I get around to installing the software for my new camera on my PC I’ll check out the footage of the red room.
We’ll all miss you on the next trip 6th it couldn’t possibly be the same without you. I’m going to bring a ghost busting Stay Puft Marshmallow man to take your place but it will be a poor substitute for our organizing, sensitive, larger than life, generous, nasty to ghosts, sexy and knowledgeable buddy.

More pictures to follow. Apparently I can only post 15 per reply so I'll just post em up over a fe days. I'll stick some up at lunch time.

Oh and KShiel!! That cat escaped a good buttering! As I said, if you are ever in a situation where you need to butter a cat, I find that Dairy Gold or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter works quite well. :)

Stoner - thanks for the laughs on the way back. I was still chuckling to myself on Sunday night about Wizard's Sleeves and Clown's Pockets!

Shunkey are real and though not well documented there have been numerous sightings.

It would appear that Wikipedia are in on the anti-Shunkey agenda!

Before they delete the page I'll copy and paste the article.
A Shunkey (pronounced Shun-Key) is an which is believed to be a cross breath of a monkey and a shark. Though thought to be an unlikely mix this creature has established itself and trives in small pockets in many parts of Europe, North America and Asia.

Though little is known about this animal it is believed that Michael Eisner, of Disney, came up with the idea for the 80's cartoon series The Wuzzles having had an experience with a Shunkey as a child.

    Facts about Shunkey:

The plural of Shunkey is Shunkey.

Though thought to be able to fly, Shunkey actually glide much like the flying squirel.

Shunkey tend to gravitate to area where there are tall buildings and body of water.

Shunkey, due to their cunning and fierce nature, where used to guard castles. This suited them as they could patrol both the highest towers and glide down to moats with unbelieveable speed.

Even though they have a lack of body fat they can survive in extreme cold and stay under water for up to an hour. This is due to a chemical that they surcrete which causes a bio-chemical reaction just below the surfaces of the skin radiating heat.

This chemical also has a strange affect when it comes to light in that due to its reflective nature it causes Shunkey not to appear in photos or video.

It is believed that Dracula wore a cloak made of the skin of a Shunkey, causing hiim to cast no reflection. This is also backed up by the fact that Dracula dwelt in a Castle with a moat ... a perfect habitate for Shunkey.

Shunkey are thought to be mute.

A small group of Shunkey enthusiasts in Ireland (Gavin Corcoraghan, Graham Harkness and Mark Guerin) have recently identified a small community of Shunkey in the area of Tullamore in Co. Offaly, Ireland.

Articles submitted to magazines such as Fortean Times have failed to reach the publications and it is believed by some Conspiracy Theorists that a Anti-Shunkey group is responsible though the reasons for this.

Celebraties though to own or have owned Shunkey:

    Micheal Jackson Singer.

    Paul Henry Actor.

    Good times!

I have somewhat poor coordination. I don't deny that I'm somewhat clumsy... my coordination isn't as good as good as that of the "average" person. It's a lot to do with my Aspergers, which also explains why I can hear slightly into ultrasonic sound ranges.

First of all I would also like to thank 6th and Pantsless for a very well organised trip, and I can confirm the girls that came with Lou and myself had a great time, one of them been quite sensitive herself got quite a lot out of it I think. I'll second what stoner said about you been missed 6th, where else are we going to find someone so tactful with words. Stoner thanks for lighting the way with your torch, even though it did run out fairly quickly and listening to me rattle on about snakes when I was scared sh*tless in the nursery.

First walk around with group lead by Pantsless. Execellent history lesson by the way. On standing outside the main door way I became aware of a large group of people watching us from the end pillars. There were men and woman in this group and to me they may have stood there quite often just watching people entering and leaving the building. After mentioning that we were been watched by these people to the others a few of them came slightly closer and stood among the garden near the trees. I didn't get any real impression from any of them and non approched us close enough to get a good look at what they were like, but I think these people do be around quite alot and watch the castle.

On entering the main hall with the beautifully light staircase (nice atmosphere created there boys) again I could feel we were been watched and listened in on, it felt like a gathering or mist of souls, non of which stood out particularly well.

When we all went to the stables I felt and saw a very young boy who seemed to be hiding in the far corner stables attached to the main stable, he was about 6 years old I would say, wearing a cap not to different from the one I wore, he just kept peeking around the corner of the door having alook out at me as I was standing just a little way back. He didn't speak but I got the impression he would hide there alot while alive.

A bit later on in the evening when myself and Andy and two of the other girls (forgive me for not giving names as well I cannot remember them) went to the chapel, here was very interesting to me, on entering the chapel their is an arch way that leads into a small room were I could see a nun (dressed in the old style habit like the poor clare's wear today) she was talking or having a little disagreement with a preist and down to her side she was holding back the little boy that I saw in the stables earlier. My self and Andy approched the archway and both of us got told to get out. I couldn't make out what they were talking about so I approched closer and asked the Nun what was wrong, she look at me and said get out again, there was no agression in her voice so I asked again, she sort of sighed and said, he's not supposed to be here. She didn't explain much further than that, so I asked about the boy, she just said orphan not supposed to be here. I asked her what her name was and I heard Rosemary Quill or Quinn not to sure on the surname only that it was a Q name. She walked quite close to me then and said Bless you Child, which was the most amazing experience and left into the hall way off the room, I was about to follow when the priest stood in front of me and said Your done and hurried them down the narrow passage way. This experience to me was amazing and I would love to go back to see if I could get in contact with the Nun who called herself Rosemary.

After this we went back down to the dungeon were again myself and andy stood on the little blocks inside where the alter was erected (which to me actually takes from the atmoshphere in the place) here I could feel the presence of a man who was dirty in appearance and mean in manner. I tried to make some contact with him but I distintly heard him say go away you "F" whore, I'll slit your gizzard. (clearly a man who has a way with women) I felt here that to him, I was a lower person than him been a woman and not worth talking to. I asked him was he "O' Reilly" he just came towards me branding his teeth saying its Jones. I must admit I felt pretty pissed off with him and if he had have been solid in front of me I would have slapped him one, but in stead been non agressive myself i told him to "F" off and left.

I will write the rest up later.

    kim.

I'll post those photos up sometime today or the next day, may use my Flickr account to host them. Thanks to Stoner for the lift, and to Mark (big thanks!) and Graham for organising the investigation.

Edit: If I can compose my thoughts enough, I may write up a little report myself.

By Jones no, he is just a mean tempered person who probaly could have done with some manner lessons, but I have felt threatend by some entities such as some of the ones on the third floor, which I will write about later.

sigh... not this again.... I'm telling you female shunkeys don't have a womb, they lay eggs. And in fact if one were to consume the egg of a shunkey you would be granted strange and amazing powers.

Actually with regards to the 3rd floor ... it did seem to be very active. That said when it was Kim, Sarah, Stoner & myself in the nursery those energies had nothing to do with the castle .. nor where they 'ghosts'.

Well I did a thread a while back on 'Thought Forms' thought it would be more suited to the Paganism Forum due to the use of them in Occult practices.

There was alot of the right kind of energy down at the Castle and anyone who had a handle on what they were doing could use that energy and work with it.

Googling 'Thought Forms' will bring up alot of crap but will also find you a few good articles.

So do you think that there was someone down there " who had a handle on what they were doing "? Do you think there was some sort of direction behind the experience on the third floor?

When I was in the nursery there definately was and it was tried again when we where all settling down to sleep.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭dib

So what happened when we were all settling down to sleep? I was too busy laughing at Andy and his drinks to notice anything out of the ordinary. I have to say I wasn't comfortable having my back to the other half of the morning room when we were going to sleep but I just put that down to being tired and wrung out.

If you are right about someone purposefully directing thought forms then that's kind of sh!tty to be honest.

Ah its not ****ty, using the energy and directing it to achieve an desired affect ... seeing as people when there to experience the paranormal its not a bad thing at all.

In the morning room the atmosphere changed for a short time and yes the bottom of the room was the focus but I was wreaked and everyone was a bit sapped.

In case you havent guessed it was me but as i said it was just when 4 of us where in teh nursery and again in the morning room.

Nothing dangerous about it, or any more dangerous than being in the castle in the first place.

As I wasn't there for the nursery experience I thought you meant someone in a different part of the castle was purposefully directing negative energy towards the group. The description of a hooded cobra came across as a bad thing adn I put it down to that. My mistake.

The hooded cobra was one persons interpetation of the energy. Even that person was glad of the experience as it never crossed the line.
